Good, but the recipe doesn't say to take out the bacon after you cook it in the oil. Didn't do this, so I had soggy bacon floating around in it. Otherwise, liked the flavor.

I love, love, love this soup!! It is the ultimate in comfort soups. The flavor is fantastic! I'll be making some this weekend in fact, and leftovers are even better.

This is absolutely fantastic. All the family coming over tomorrow since they all have had a taste of the first batch. I added onion,a few dried mushrooms and lots of garlic. The bacon should be lean and the potatoes whatever you have. What a great fall dinner

Not a success story. Not a good soup for leeks. Fingerling potatoes worked much better than russet and they can't be potato chip thin. I had some left over and used them up rather than more russet. Glad I did. Would not make this a 2nd time even with the suggestions for improvemnt.

I did olive oil & 2 tbls of butter to cook the bacon. I also added in a few strips of pork salt w/ the bacon (did not put back in at the end w/ the bacon.

All in all very good, warms you up! : Next time I might add some barley or noodles. I will definitely cut the veggies to more "standard" cuts and cook a bit longer if I have to. Not a big fan of the "potato chip" cut for this recipe.

It's cold out and I'm on a soup kick right now! This was sooo great! I loved the flavors....and generally I would never think to put bacon in soup. I substituted bacon for turkey bacon, added garlic, and chopped the potatoes and a little parm cheese as a topper....super yumm-o!!!! ;P

But I used S&W Italian seasoned tomatoes and didn't drain them, just used 1 less cup of broth. I also added cabbage and sliced all the veggies. Made garlic & Parm bread toasted to go with it - YUMO!!!! Shared with my neighbors and they enjoyed it too! :

I thought this soup was very comforting. After reading some reviews, I decided to add a little minced garlic with the celery. I also added quite a bit extra salt and pepper to make the broth more flavorful. In the last 5 minutes of cooking, I added a bag of fresh spinach which didn't do much for the taste but added to the texture and nutrition of the soup. Maybe next time I will add some bow-tie pasta and extra tomatoes??? Overall, a very good base to start and kind of just throw extra flavor elements in as you go!!!
