First the flavor of the leeks are are overpowered by the bacon and tomatoes, so save the leeks for another recipe. Second seasonings are nonexistent except for salt. Fairly flavorless. Better to make a good pot of veggie soup.

This soup is yummy and easy to make. It is my favorite soup, any time of the year. It warms you up in the winter and tastes nice and fresh in the summer.

Making this all the time, one thing I do differently is increase the amount of bacon (you can NEVER go wrong with lots of bacon, and add tons and tons of black pepper.

I have this recipe in one of her cookbooks, and it is definitely crucial to remove the bacon and add again right before serving, that way the bacon is crispy and contrasts nicely with the broth of the soup.

Serve with a large hunk of french bread and you won't regret making this soup!

This is a solid soup choice. It's easy to make and has some comforting flavors to it. Was not a fan of sliced potatoes and suspect it's to make them cook faster. On second making we cubed the potatoes. Turned out better and easier to eat.

This soup isnt worth the ingredients. Its a little bland, and a little acidic with the tomatoes. Go with something else.

A there isn't a direction in the recipe to remove the bacon after browning, and then adding it later, so you should do that. B after following this recipe to the letter, It was totally flavorless, except for salt, of which i didn't add any extra. so, in order to save this soup, i added some fresh basil and a hefty spoon of pesto. i also added a container of fresh spinach to give it some more color. With these additions the soup came out excellent, but without my doctoring, it would've been a disaster.

I made this recipe for dinner and it was a huge hit. We like tons of flavor, so we added a tbsp of tomato paste, a chicken bullion cube and some onion. After reading some of the reviews I was afraid it wouldn't be flavorful, but the changes made a huge difference. Also, the veggie cutting is time consuming, but I realized that they are cut this way because it is meant to be a "thirty minute" recipe. It really did cook fast. I will definitely be making this again!

Everyone in my family loved this soup. My sister could not get enough of it. I browned the bacon and removed. Then I let people add the bacon as a topping to their soup.
