I LOVED this!! when I first read over the recipe, I was a little skeptical that my family would like it too because it's more of an authentic Italian dish. But, once made, it filled 'em up and kept 'em happy, so it worked!! I also had to adjust the recipe because I had forgotten some things at the store, but it still worked out! I think a great variation on this recipe for parties or a cocktail hour would be to slice up a skinny piece of bread, toast up the slices, top with the sauce and cheese and broil them. That way, they would be easier to eat and wouldn't require a fork and knife.

Had to make couple of adjustments due to forgetful shopping and personal pref's, and just to be different ;- Drained off most of fat after hamburger browning, used 28 oz of tomatoes, added 6.25 oz can of mushroom pieces, had to use white wine.....forgot to buy red ;-, used about 2 cups of broth, cooked a little longer to thicken up, broiled close to flame so cheese got that nice brown crust on top. It was amazingly good. Leftovers are awsome too.......topped melted cheese with a little sambal olek after reheating, the vinegar and the little hot bite added a whole new dimension. May have to add some sambal to the meat mixture next time I make it.

Oh...this is very filling and makes a LOTTA food......I made for two people, half the meat mix on 1 side of bread, but now I have some awesome meat sauce for pasta this weekend lol

My daughter and I watched this episode and she was so excited to make it. She's 4, and her favorite part was the carrots in the sauce. Her brother, 2, was a little disappointed that it didn't look like pizza, but once we gave him ranch to dip it in, he was happy. Overall, it was very filling, very easy, and a great new lunch idea. I would mess with the sauce a bit as it was slightly sweeter than my tastes. But a good addition of onion powder and garlic powder would have done a nice job of fixing that up.

This was out of this world but I bumped up the seasoning like crazy. I quadrupled everything and added garlic, onion powder and the bread insides that I removed. You have lots of leftover meat sauce that I used as a dip for chips. Amazing!

i saw this on her show and thought it sounded interesting so i tried it. i didn't know how the carrots would play into the recipe...but i loved them! i chopped them small and the crunch and sweetness really paired nicely with the other ingredients! i used 1 lb of ground beef and 1 lb of italian sausage and i omitted the wine (because i didn't have any! and just added a little more stock. it was great!!! my guest thought it was awesome too! the only suggestion i may make and will do next time is toast the bread a little beforehand...i think that may reduce the sogginess...however...soggy was pretty tasty!! will for sure make again!

I made this for my in-laws and they loved it! It was very quick to do after the prep work. I may very well use this as just a bolognese sauce w/pasta as well. I think next time I will probably subst some sausage for half the beef and make it a "grinder" bolognese pizza! It fills you up, and can't really be frozen, so make it for at least 4-6 people.

I watched Rachel make this on television and then thought I'd try out the recipe using leftover ground beef and fresh italian semolina bread I picked up at the store. It smelled good and was really tasty! It was a little messy and a bit hard to cut into pieces for people. I was surprisingly really filling too!

I made this a little while ago and it was fast, easy and very good. I didn't have the wine but it was still good. Instead of the tomatoes, I used a little jarred spaghetti sauce and about a tablespoon of tomato paste. Also, I used a prepared pizza dough from the refrigerated section of the market, not the roll out but the flat dough like Boboli or the store brand. I diced the carrots finely so they would not be crunchy. I think the carrots and Worcestershire sauce is what gives it a distinctive taste. Definitely will make again

I would like to use my 1300 calories and 61g of fat on something that tastes incredible. This does not.
