Very tasty! My family always enjoys the complex flavors of orange and bourbon. When I don't have bourbon, I use rum and it is a nice substitute. I make it every Thanksgiving and it is a big hit.

I found this recipe to be outstanding. I prepared it according to the recipe. NO need for modifications. Of course, this dish is for the delectable palate. The orange juice along with the bourbon give the right "kick" to it. The pecans just added to the mix of flavors making it a perfect dish. My guests were delighted. I saved it and will prepare it again for Thanksgiving. We highly recommend it.

I thought these were outstanding -- I didn't find the OJ overwhelming at all. I roasted the sweet potato, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. The potatoes do need salt, though, and I found that as I added more salt, the OJ flavor became a lot more subtle. So, I would recommend not shying away from the salt.

I made this for a pot-luck Thanksgiving. The dish was a huge hit. My cousin said they were the best sweet potatoes she's ever had. She's a vegetarian, so side dishes are very important to her on the holidays, and that's a big compliment coming from her.

Did not like this recipe at all. It was such a flop with me and my family. First of all I think Yams would have been better than sweet potatoes. The orange juice was way overpowering in the recipe. No matter what we tried to do to tone it down did not work. Sorry Rach..not a hit with us.

definitely recommend using less oj - we did and even then it was still too orange-y. Thinking of trying it again, though, and adding chopped apple and using honey instead of sugar.

I tripled recipe for christmas dinner. I substituted maple syrup and reduced OJ to 2/3 amount, but would probably recommend cutting it in half. I also added about 8 shakes of Cayenne for a kick. Needed to boil sweet mixture for more than a minute, for sure!

I was a bit hesitant to try this recipe for the first time during a Thanksgiving dinner, but I gave it a shot. I read the reviews and used about a third cup less of OJ than the recipe called for. I used a good quality bourbon and let it burn off for a couple minutes longer than recommended. The dish was excellent. Everyone liked it and I will definitely make it again for my immediate family on regular dinner nights. It was a quick, easy and tasty recipe. Rachael Ray came through once again on this one!!
