Great recipe! Husband loved it! Modified it just a little. I cubed the radishes instead of slices. Didn't have red wine vinegar in the pantry so I used wishbone basalmic breeze salad spritzer, used 3 tablespoons of butter instead of two. And last, I used coconut palm sugar instead of cane. Must allow to cook longer than 10 minutes as directed. I let it simmer for about 25 minutes until the radishes absorbed the liquid! Good luck!

Tastes like bad Turnips.
Walk away from this one, it is not magic, it taste like you think it would.
You should get a hint from the recipe that requires sugar to be added. It took a lot longer than 10 minutes to get the radishes to cook. I gave it a one because I did not eat it; not the worst thing I ate, I did not spit it out, but I did not eat it. I do not really like turnips, but a fresh spring turnip is good. These rashes are about 2 steps below turnips. The braising technique is good, butter, onions, chicken stock, what vegetable would not be tasty cooked like this? One radish.
But come on who talks about cooking radishes? You think it is because no one ever tried it, perhaps. It might me that they did try it and decided not to do it again.
My radishes were fresh from the garden and quite good in a salad. Put peas and carrots and spring turnip or parsnip in this recipe and serve the radishes fresh as a side.

i used chicken broth instead of stock.. ended up dicing the radishes in order to get more of the sauce infused.. didn't add the sugar bc i dont like anything remotely sweet.. used onion instead of shallot.. next time i'll slice the radishes to soak up more of the juice

AMAZING! Tasted better than redskin potatoes, and, as someone said earlier, the sauce is good enough to put on mashed potatoes. I used onions instead of a shallot (as many as I wanted, balsamic instead of red wine vinegar, chicken broth instead of chicken stock, and left out the sugar because I'm a low-carber. SO, SO GOOD.

I had high hopes for this recipe. I had homegrown radishes picked this morning, and made this recipe as a side for dinner. I was the only one who tried it (out of four and it was good except the skin, or outer layers, of the radishes were super bitter. the sauce was good and once dissected, and bitter parts discarded, was good. unique texture to a cooked radish.

This was the best thing I have ever done to a radish! I must admit that I am not much of a radish fan... but after getting two bunches in my organic veggie box I had to do something! This is easy and yummy! It doesn't taste like a radish at all... like cooking an onion, raw onion has a lot of bite..... cooked onion is much more mellow. Radishes are similar. They have a nice texture - not mushy yet also not crisp (once cooked.
I was trying this reciepe and put it over noodles... just to see and it worked. Next time I will make rice and chicken breast and pour the entire radish mixture over it. It is probably possible to cook the chicken in the radish sauce.... but first things first!
This was quick, easy and fun to try. I will make it again. I have two kids (6 and 8 and although they are not supper picky they don't exactly eat everything either.... this was ok for them. Not a fovorite, but eaten. They did not like raw radishes at all.

This is absolutely delicious! If you think you do not like radishes...think again! This recipe makes them sweet and tender...the sauce is good enough to put over mashed potatoes! Super easy to prepare!

Made this tonight and it was delicious! Completely changes the taste of the radish. Smooth and nutty, no bitterness at all, and very easy to make. This one's a keeper!

I forgot to customize my organic vegetable delivery for this week and received radishes in my box. Desperate to not let them go to waste, I tried this recipe. I took another reviewer's suggestion and added carrots and brussel sprouts and I omitted the sugar. I removed the cooked veggies from the liquid and stirred in a little flour to make a gravy, poured it on top of the dish and I have to say it is delicious! I will definitely make this again.
