Add a dash of balsamic vinegar and/or red pepper flakes. Very tasty.
Can pre steam if you are afraid of not cooking through.

I also didn't have shallots so I substituted with half a sweet onion, added a little more bacon (I like bacon! and it turned out fantastic. I really enjoyed this dish. My first try at brussel sprouts, will be making again!

Great recipe for those afraid of the notorious brussel sprout taste! I used onions and Cerrano Ham instead of shallots and bacon. My mother, who abhors brussel sprouts, throughly enjoyed them!

I really don't like brussel sprouts, but this recipe was tasty. I used onions instead of shallots, because that's what I had around.

I have been making this recipe too for several years and make them every Thanksgiving and Christmas. My husband loves them. The shallots add delicious flavor. These beat out mom's frozen brussels sprouts that smell like rotten eggs!

Yummo! My sister made these as a side for Thanksgiving this year and they were a hit. I now know a different side to make aside from the usuals.

This has been THE dish I have to make for our Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday dinners since I first made it several years ago. I make the recipe exactly as is but add some shredded cheddar at the end. It is fantastic.

Very tasty and flavorful and had beautiful color. I didn't even use the shallots.

Made this on Thursday evening for couple friends. We all agreed it was just great. Very easy to make. I pre cooked in microwave for 3 or 4 mins the sprouts as I was afraid they would not cook enough in the pan. Will make this one again and again. Thanks a lot, Sunny
