I, too, cute the recipe in half; thank goodness. I toss most of it. No taste.

I saw Rachel make this twice over the weekend and thought I'd give it a try. I cut the recipe in half. First off, when she drains the pasta, cabbage and potatoes, it looked like the same amount of ingredients I had in my strainer (even though I had supposedly 1/2 as much - when she tossed everything together in the saute pan, it looked like the same amount I had. I can't believe she used 1# of fettucine and a whole head of cabbage and came out with a dish that wasn't overflowing the pan. Mine pan was full with only 1/2. Aside from this discrepancy, I chopped the garlic and left it in the butter and used twice as much sage as she did. I could hardly detect the sage in the finished dish. This was ok but not something I'd make again. I agree with another poster that just sauteing shredded cabbage in the butter mixture would be a delicious dish.

I made this last night. Preparation was quite easy. I didn't even look the recipe up on the internet before trying it. It was definitely unique and different. You just need to be ready for the sage as it's not a flavor you are expecting to taste with pasta. HOWEVER, the sage works phenomenally well with the cabbage. In fact, Cabbage, sage and butter would make a great side dish. (grin
I varied a little from the recipe by sauting one small yellow onion in with the butter for a little extra kick (then removed the onion. I also added about 1/4 cup of chopped sundried tomatoes in oil (removing as much of the oil as possible. It added color and a little more flavor.
I would definitely make this again.

If I had just read this recipe online without having watched her make it, I never would have given it a try. I made it tonight and it was truly amazing. I don't think of myself as a fan of cabbage but it worked so well with the pasta and potatoes. Since my husband doesn't think it's "dinner" without some kind of "meat", I also grilled some chicken breast to go with it. I will definately be making this again.

I was skeptical when I watched the show. The combination of ingredients seemed a little weird to me. So, I'm not sure why I decided to take a chance and try it, but I am so glad I did! My husband and I both LOVED it! He said that we could definitely bring this dish out for company. And I agree. But it's easy enough for a weeknight family meal. Delicious comfort food.

It was a little bland for our taste. We added some red pepper flakes and some stronger cheese.
