I had caprese salad in Florence Italy and it was so good. This recipe is really good and I was able to find really good fresh mozerella from a local cheese maker. It's almost like being back in Italy.

I used to eat this at my favorite Italian restaurant and I always wondered how it was made. I tried to make it myself once and I bought jack cheese by mistake and canned tomatoes instead of fresh. I just ended up making chicken parmigiana with a marinara sauce instead with a chocolate souffle for desert. Yumo!
I am so glad this was shared so I could finally figure it out. that the tomatoes need to be fresh and they use mozzarella and not jack. Silly me.

I make this with balsamic vinegar like other reviewers, and the whole family loves it! Our Italian foreign exchange student said it's not usually served there with basil or vinegar, but with oregano (at least in Verona. Absolutely wonderful dish!

love this. It's so easy to make! I only had some pasta, butter and frozen veggies mixed up as a main meal, so I just got some garlic bread and made this. Easy, fast dinner

This is a simple yet elegant salad. So nice to have a dish that is so easy to make & sooooo delicious! I also drizzled in some balsamic vinegar, to add a little zip.

This is a perfect approach to a salad if you want something easy, simple, and elegant. I served this to my in-laws who are very midwestern in their tastes. They were very surprised. The key is to get good mozzarella. If you have home-grown tomatoes, then you have a home run!
