This is visually a gorgeous pie, but I think there needs to be something added to make it a more flavorful crust. By trial and error, I list them below:
~~ As directed, the 'fresh' linguini is best, and not the boxed substitute....something about the fresher 'dough' that creates a better crust facsimile.
~~ Since the crust lacked flavor, it would do best if the meat is crumbled into the actual first-bake of the crust and/or a little tomato sauce was added for the kick.
**(Also, you'll see that in the posted recipe, the step to when to include the pancetta/meat wasn't listed!
~~ Italian sausage did best in combination with the pancetta and also increased the flavor.
Otherwise, this isn't as easy as it looked on her show.:

This recipe was terrible!! Very bland, not pizza-like at all. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this recipe!

Simple recipe to make. Seems a lot of reviewers are saying the same thing though -it's missing flavor. I'd agree. I'm going to reheat some tonight and add some tomato sauce to see how it tastes then.

Very easy to make, good comfort food. I modified it and used vegetarian bacon and it was great. Froze well.

I love Rachael Ray, but this recipe was not very good. I should have looked at the reviews before making it. It was bland and boring.. My family complained so I will not be making this again. Sorry Rachael.

I made this recipe cause I thought my picky kids may enjoy it. We all agreed that it is a little dry and could used some sauce. Also, I felt that it needed more panchetta or some ham. Peas would also be a nice touch. Anyway, it was not a big hit here!

I watched this episode and was curious enough about the pasta pizza to try it. It was a big hit! Not only did my family love it but my husband brought it to lunch one day and now his co-workers are asking for the recipe. I love trying different recipes and this one is going into my personal collection.

We read all the reviews before attempting this recipe. Based on them, we increased the amount of garlic, and flavored up the ricotta layer by adding chives and parm cheese. We also added garlic salt and s&p to the egg mixture. Other than that, we followed the recipe and loved it. We did cook longer than the recipe called for, because we were judging doneness by goldenness of the cheese. We didn't find it bland at all and would definitely make it again. We made the romaine salad with cherry tomato dressing (that was in the same episode and it complimented the entree nicely.

This looked great on the program but was bland and even boring at home. I agree with other reviewers, use 1 package of pasta and spice it up a bit with chives and maybe even a smattering of tomato sauce. We are usually Rachel Ray fans but this one was very disappointing. We won't be having it again.
