We loved this!! I used half smoked paprika and half regular and there was a ton of flavor! If it was bland for some people, perhaps they just used regular paprika...?? The only other difference I did was add some tomato paste. So good! Use crusty bread to soak up the sauce.

I wanted to make this for dinner but improvised on some ingredients based on what I had on hand. Subbed fresh chicken breast for ground, sliced into small, thin, medallions. Tiny broccoli crowns instead of mushrooms, green bell pepper instead of red. I used 14oz of tomato sauce as well as chicken broth which soaked up nicely with some crusty bread. Fam loved it, very easy to make and tasty.

This was very plain and I did season the ground chicken as it sauted. I added more smoked paprika, more broth ( it had cooked down as I was trying to fix, cayenne, hot sauce, tomato paste, and sour cream. Then I added some low salt BEEF bouillon powder and it was great. It does need to simmer a little to meld flavors before adding the sour cream.

I agree with another reviewer that this is a nice base recipe just to get the technique and basic flavors of goulash while adding the vegetables and spices of your choice. I used ground beef instead of chicken and radiatore pasta instead of gnocchi. After reading several reviews that said this recipe was a little bland, I added garlic powder, onion powder, and more paprika, including hot paprika. I also added a hungarian pepper which gave it more flavor and a little heat. Good recipe to try if you're not afraid to adapt it to make it your own. (which is why I can't give the recipe as is 5 stars

This dish is addicting. I have made it 3 times. If frezzed well. I replace half of the smoked paprika with Chipoltle powder for some heat.

I LOVEEEEEEE THIS RECIPE!!! I have made it twice, as it is, and am definitely going to make it over & over & over again. So delicious and so easy to make.

This recipe was suprisingly good! The name isn't very intising, but it was full of flavor. I put about 3 to 4 teaspoons of paprika just to insure bold flavor. The only thing I would change is not to serve it with the gnocchi unless it is home-made. My gnocchi tasted like the plastic container it was vaccum sealed in. A good substitute could be rice or pasta, since it has a good amount of sauce with it. I would definately make this again.

This recipe was great. Full of flavor and not hard to make. The only thing I would change is the gnocchi. It wasn't bad, but just bland and the texture didn't add to the dish. If/when I make this dish again, I will use a normal noodle.

This recipe is delicious! I went with the suggestion to subistute the chicken and chicken stock with ground beef and beef stock and it was so good! I actually one a "One Pot Wonder" contest at my church with this dish! It is very hearty and rich! And SO easy to make!

Made this twice. The first time it was , eh, OK. Same issue everyone else had w/ the seasoning. This time, I made it with ground turkey (my preference over chicken..And it was delicious! I went heavy on the paprika, added cumin, chili powder, oregano ..and a pinch of other seasonings and herbs that I thought would blend.

This is a great base recipe for you to make your own dish. I love it because the gnocchi is hearty and the goulash is comfort food on a cold night. Oh, and it doesn't take long to make.
