My husband was incredibly skeptical when I said I was making this, but he LOVED it. It probably didn't need both chicken breasts, as even my husband could barely finish it! Even though the gravy sounds weird, just try it. It's fantastic. I am pretty sure that this recipe would have closer to 5 stars overall if all the people who don't like Rachel Ray weren't giving it 1 star just to state their feelings about the show! get a life people.

Does she have to put nutmeg in everything? OK, I left THAT out. Gravy and syrup? Ick! It wasn't sweet and savory, it was just way too much.

This recipe is not a monte cristo and why does she always talk so silly and make up names for the food she is cooking ? it gets on my nerves

I actually made this based on actually watching the show & wanting to make it not based on some biased just trashing Rachael personally reviews. My choice was made on her stating if you really listen that it is a slight wink & a nudge towards a "Monte Cristo" as well as "Chicken & Waffles" which is both dishes are family love. I did switch up some ingredients to cut some fat like using turkey bacon (tasted amazing!, used a sugar free syrup (really couldn't tell the difference, & we make up our own waffle mix to control what goes into it. I know that yes it did make it more labor intensive but so well worth it. We also have a round waffle maker & it worked fine. Our family of 5 which is my hubby, me, 15, 13, & a VERY picky 8 yr old all scarfed this down & was so sad it didn't make more!!! LOL This recipe is not only worth it but most def a keeper as it is stars the limit what you could do to mix it up!

The individual components of this dish are good. Putting them all together not so much. Next time I will probably make the chicken and gravy, saving the waffles and bacon for breakfast.

In a house of 5 people of whom one was a picky eating teen...this recipe got rave reviews. We found that the maple gravy was not overly sweet but that the flavors of maple and rosemary stood out and was a sweet surprise. The taste of the nutmeg was the star of waffles. This recipe was a pleasure to cook and got the whole family involved in preparing. The only criticism was that recipe does NOT take 30 minute but about an hour. This recipe was great and so are you!

    PS.
I don't think you are fat at all.

    ...just not together.

And how is this in any way a Monte Cristo? A Monte Cristo is thin sliced turkey and ham dipped in egg and grilled. Neither syrup nor gravy is involved.

When will Food Network get some on air talent that actually know whereof they speak?

but a little too stacked for me. Waffles are a bit too thick to use more than two in a sandwich. I shall try it!

Also to those who are bleating about fat content, simply use low fat cheese and butter, sugar free syrup and substitute the bacon. Recipes are made to be tweaked and tried. Lashing out at someone who's recipe you obviously thought intriguing and seeked out online is a bit childish. Maybe you should have typed in green.
