I've made this recipe countless times (most times using bulk ground sausage in place of chorizo and people just love it. You can make it as spicy or non-spicy as you like it, or as thick or thin as you like it, but the ingredients ring true no matter what and this one's a crowd pleaser. If you want a slam-dunk, this recipe is it!

i'm a foodie and really picky about food, this was awesome. I skipped the potatoes and added corn. Also sour cream....Instead of hot sauce i used red pepper flakes. soooo good

One of my favorite soup recipes! So delicious and very filling. We are a family of four- 2 adults and 2 small kids and this was more than enough. One bowl was more than enough for each of us with plenty for leftovers. I omitted the red bell peppers since we don't like them. I also used just a few dashes of Tabasco rather than 2 teaspoons of hot sauce since our little girls are still pretty sensitive to spicy food. I highly recommend this! You won't regret it!

This is my third time making this soup and I must say it is always a success. I added my own little twist, smoked turkey sausage along with the chicken and Chorizo. It gives it a smokey flavor! My kids love this soup. I topped it with cheese and tortillo strips and ran it under the broiler. Then topped it with fresh scallions and cilantro. WOW!

Great soup... my sister made it for the family and it was a huge hit! She used kielbasa instead of chorizo and diced a small can of green chilies too.. it was AWESOME!! Though next time I'm going to add some corn to it as well.

I didn't have any potatoes so I substituted with corn. Turned out very good and will definitely use this recipe again!

Went into this one a little scared. Quickly found that those fears were completely unfounded. Easy to make, and absolutely DELICIOUS! The perfect meal for a cold day/night. We added avocado, and salsa to the bowls that wanted more kick. I will probably opt for ground chorizo next time because it's just too hard to find links that hold up outside the casing. I will also add corn for a little more texture. If you want a good hearty soup that will warm you to your very soul, this is the one. One of my favorite first try winners.

Fixed this on Sunday for family and friends coming to watch some NFL football, and I seriously think somebody was licking the bowl. My picky daughter was mad because she didn't get seconds and wants me to hurry up and fix it again.

An absolute winner, and great for the cold afternoons.

We made it for our first tonight and it was delicious. I accidently doubled the chicken broth which made it less stew like, and I did have to modify and add a little more hot sauce and another can of beans because of that, but all it was still wonderful. I really love brothy soups though so I will probably continue to make it the same way in the future.

i love this recipe. i make a lot of different soups for my family and it's great when you find one that is as absolutely delicious as this one is. my family loved it. it is going to be one that I make often. I used ground chorizo instead of the kind rachael called for. You won't be disappointed. This is a # 1 hit!!
