I was hosting Christmas Dinner, (again looking for a change from the traditional menu. I gave this a shot. WOW, was the comments from my family. From a 2year old who had two bowls full, to my 83 year old father. It was such a big hit. She also recommended the Caprese Salad with it so I did that also...I recommend this for any time of year. Give it a try!!!!!

It took a little longer to make, but was fun. When I did a taste test, my 2 year old also wanted a taste test and then 10 big wooden spoonfuls later, I finally convinced her to wait for the pasta at dinner time.
The whole family enjoyed it, very flavorful

I thought this looked so good and normally LOVE Rachel's recipes but this was not worth the time or money to make. The sauce was watery and really tasted like beef stew over pasta. I would suggest adding tomate paste and less stock.

Although there are a lot of ingredients, this recipe was easy to put together. I made it a day ahead and served it with a salad and Italian bread to rave reviews. Everyone wanted some of the left-overs for lunch the next day. Excellent recipe!

This pasta sauce was tasty but despite nearly 2 hours of simmering, the sauce was a little watery. For this reason, I would not make this sauce again.

I would really like to have given this 3 1/2 stars. It was very quick and simple to make and I would probably make again. However, it's not something I would make for a special occasion. I cut the recipe in half and had more than enough for myself, my husband and 2 kids.

I got the recipe for this dish in one of Rachel's Cookbooks and when I saw the list of things in it, I thought it was going to be a complicated one. It really wasn't and my boyfriend said it was the best recipe I've tried so far. One plateful and a slice of crusty bread made me so full that I had lots of left overs. I definately suggest this recipe for anyone who loves pasta...at ANY time of the year :

This is an excellent recipe. It seems I only get to make it once a year, but I really look forward to it. My mother had it for the first time last year, she loved it. Iwas a little bit of work but it was worth it.

Very easy, very good. It makes any beginner look like they have been cooking for years.
