UNEXPECTED TURKEY BURGER -- JUICY & FULL OF FLAVOR!!

Thank you Rachael for such an innovative approach to a turkey burger, and thank you for making a recipe that is geared for the ground turkey packages sold in grocery stores. Excellent flavor, and elevated a plain-ole-turkey burger into something really fun to eat. LOVED THIS RECIPE!! Will totally make this again!!!

    ADAPTATIONS
    1. Used half of a finely diced granny smith apple
    2. Added fresh chopped sage (I loooove sage
    3. Melted Vermont cheddar cheese on top
    4. Swapped out English Muffins for Lettuce Leaves

The turkey burgers were a hit! I used ground dark meat turkey. To the cran-mayo, I added 1/2 t of dijon mustard, and 1/2 t of orange juice. Instead of lettuce, I had a slice of avocado on the burgers - and I used brioche buns instead of english muffins. I will definitely make these again - super easy to make, moist, and delicious.

Yummy! Easy as can be...I substituted:
1 lb ground turkey thigh with 1 xl raw egg
    1/2 med/lg honey crisp apple
    no onion
homemade poultry seasoning - fresh thyme, dried sage, dash of dried marjoram, dash of grnd. clove
    whole wheat English muffin
frozen organic corn w/sweet butter & sweet paprika
homemade whole cranberry sauce, made with apple juice, squeeze of lemon, ground clove
    romaine lettuce

Thank you, again, Rachel Ray, you rock!!

Absolutely the best burgers ever. I couldn't get ground turkey so subbed 97% lean ground chicken and they were great, incredibly moist and flavorful. Definitely a do over!

Love these burgers! I grate the apple and onion, and usually skip the celery. And a nice slice of sharp cheddar on top makes it perfect!

I thought this was the best turkey burger I have ever had!! The apples and onions add the much needed moisture that most turkey burgers lack and the poultry seasoning added just the right amount of flavor. I thought initially that I would add worcestershire sauce, but decided to try the recipe as written, since I tend to like the flavoring of most of Rachael's food. I am not at all disappointed! Although I made this for a quick fall dinner for myself and my mom (served with sauteed green beans and chipotle spiced sweet potato fries, I would venture a guess that this is a burger that even picky kids would enjoy-and it was super-quick! TRY IT ALREADY ! :

That was my picky 12yo's comment! We all loved them. Next time, we are going to stretch the mix to make 5, maybe 6 burgers and are going to grill them. We used Paula Deen's "Wayne's Cranberry Sauce" recipe instead of cranberry mayo and added a slice of swiss cheese...no lettuce. LOVED these and will definitely be recommending this recipe to all my friends. Easy to make and delicious!

My husband, three kids, and I loved these burgers. To keep the turkey burgers moist, I grated the onion, celery and apples in my food processor; then added to the meat. This made the cooked patty light and flavorful. I took the suggestion of another reviewer and used kaiser rolls.
One of my daughter's reaction was, "It took me a couple of bites to get used to the fact I'm not eating a hamburger. Once I realized it, I loved it!"

I have tried a bazillion different ways of cooking turkey burgers and I have never been impressed. I was convinced turkey burgers were always just bland and blah. But I made this recipe and cooked the burgers on our grill and they were FANTASTIC. They were so full of flavor, I could not put my burger down! If you are considering whether or not to try this recipe, you HAVE to try it. It is delicious and flavorful and kind of like a mini Thanksgiving on a bun. YUM!
