Um, this dish is AMAZING, I don't know how it could ever receive less than 5 stars. It's such an interesting combination of flavors that I would never think of on my own, and it's impressed my entire family and circle of friends on countless occasions! After reading some of the other reviews, it's clear that people weren't satisfied because they either left out key ingredients, or couldn't get theirs to work, which makes sense - you have to get the recipe down perfectly or it won't be nearly as good. I've never had the curdling problem, and I've made this at least a dozen times. My suggestion is to combine the juice and cream - and to use plenty of hot sauce - with a whisk and whisk it hard for a few minutes. Skimping on the hot sauce, onion, or basil will probably just leave you disappointed - but I promise, together it's fantastic!

I could not get the tangarine juice to mix with the cream....is there a step I am leaving out? It looks so good but had to toss it because it curdled. Anyone else have this problem?

It was to cold to grill outside last night so I roasted the asparagus. This was delish and family ate it like they have never eaten asparagus before asking for seconds.

As with a previous poster, I omitted the onions and basil. As hubby was hesitant to grill the asparagus, I did my "normal" sautee with Montreal grill seasoning. I made the cream sauce to go with the asparagus---it was a very nice sauce, but it did nothing for the asparagus. It was too "desserty". I think it would go much better poured over an angel food cake. (clearly, I did not add that much hot sauce as I was serving it to my 3 young children.

I did not even add the basil or the raw onion to this dish and it was delicious at room temp! I used Cara Cara oranges instead of he tangerines. This dish went nicely with my Prime Rib roast and scalloped potatoes. I will definitely make it again.

This recipe was awesome. I thought it would taste strange with the tangerine and hot sauce. It was the best. It's a keeper. Shani Fairbanks, AK

It was just OK. Was not a fan of the mix of tangerine and asparagus flavors. Will not make again.

The thing I liked best about the recipe is that it was quick and easy to make, yet had an impact. My modifications were to use creme fraiche to give it a little more body and complexity, and then also carmalized the onions for richness. Also I couldn't find tangerines so used a navel orange insread. I'm sure the recipe would have been fine on its own, but a little tweaking works sometimes as well.

I haven't made this yet, but am going to be making it for the family Easter Brunch. We usually just roast asparagus w/garlic and EVOO, but this looked really good. Will follow up next week to let you know how it went!
