Best tomato soup EVER! Love the texture you get from pureeing the veggies before cooking. I add extra garlic and celery and make a cilantro/parsley pesto since I'm allergic to basil. Wonderful on a cold day but I make it in the summer too! Would be a great way to sneak extra veggies in since they are pureed.

I love all the ingredients in this soup so I decided to make it even after I read the reviews. I just changed the cooking method. I processed onion, garlic, celery, and carrot (omitted sugar and then sauteed them in olive oil. I added tomato paste, then butter, salt and pepper. Sprinkled the flour to make a roux. Next came the canned tomatoes that I also processed. Last, the hot milk.
Every bit as easy and fast--not to mention delicious

This soup is terrible. I used all organic ingredients so it was more expensive and I will probably throw it all out. All I taste is onion. I even tried adding ketchup, which didn't help out at all. What a waste of time and money.

The soup is lovely- add garlic and cook it twice as long.

I wish I had read the reviews instead of just watching the show. It looked good on air and Rachel "sold it" well. But the tomato soup was bland and gritty. You could taste the relatively raw veggie taste and that was strong. We each took a couple of bites and threw the rest out...the dogs didn't even want it. The sausage sandwiches were ok, but too greasy for my taste. Unfortunately the whole meal was a disaster. I've liked other of her recipes, but not this one.

I saw this episode earlier this week and decided to make this for my husband and I last night for dinner. The soup was super easy and we loved the taste. We added regular basil pesto to our bowls and it was soo good on a cold, drizzly night. I also made the sammies and they were delicious. I used mild italian sausage instead of sweet and they were just the right enough spicy with the peppers, without being too hot. My hubby told me to make sure I put this recipe in my collection b/c he loved it! Great recipe! I don't think I'll ever eat just regular can tomato soup again!!

I threw the ingredients in my vitamix and it was literally ready in less than 10 minutes!! You can microwave it or put it on the stove from there!

I was sooo disappointed in this soup. I wish I had read more of the older comments before making it. I did taste very 'raw' and gritty and was also incredibly bland. I used half-and-half instead of milk, and had to add many, many more spices. I let it boil and simmer longer than the recipe suggested, but it still had that raw onion and celery taste.

Don't know what I'll do with the leftovers - hate to throw them away, but don't want to eat that again!

This is really the easiest tomato soup I have ever made. I love the concept of making the "roux" in the food processor with all of the other ingredients!
I did a more traditional take of this recipe and ommitted the pesto--it changes the flavor of the soup completely. I also made grilled cheese using a really good butter-top white bread, Irish cheddar and Emmanthaler swiss cheese.

I have not been disappointed in a RR recipe ever since I started watching years ago, but this did not live up to her standards. I think next time I would have to separately cook the butter and flour and perhaps the onions, celery & garlic too. I ended up straining the soup to get rid of the texture. Prior to watching Rachael I had no idea what raw flour tasted like, but now that I know, I believe I tasted it in this recipe. I had bookmarked a 30 minute soup from a few years ago, but after the website's design change, the bookmark failed. I am wondering if this is a "do-over" recipe of tomato soup. I remember enjoying the tomato soup recipe then . This doesn't seem to be the same. I don't recall using a processor originally. And I seem to recall there were quesadillas with it, not burgers.

I may try this again . . . or maybe I'll just keep looking for a better, or the original, recipe.
