Definitely a good starter recipe, but I had to add more spices to the chili and some beef stock to thin it out a bit. I added about 2T. of chili powder, 1T. paprika, and 2t. cumin. I also added the hot sauce to the chili and not the hot dogs. Like I said, it's a good starter recipe but definitely needs some tweeking to add more flavor.

Myself and friends really enjoyed this. I don't usually use hot sauce but when I ate the dog I could taste that little extra flavor of the hot sauce and it was great. I took the remainder of the sauce and added a little more chili powder and some chilis and simmered for an hour and it made great tacos.

This is a Perfect hot dog chili recipe. Usually I feel driven to change something in a recipe, but this time followed Rachael's instructions exactly and it was a Huge success. Thanks Rachael!

Completely revamped the seasoning. Took the advice of doubling the amount of chili powder from 1 to 2 tbsp. BUT even then, it was completely missing taste. Added onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, a little butter, and a little more worcestershire sauce to the chili. Added sriracha sauce and chipotle tabasco sauce while searing the hot dogs. Chose ANGUS beef hot dogs and they make all the difference in the world. Nathan's foot long beef hot dogs didn't go well with the chili.

After doing all of this, the chili cheese dog was very good.

I just made these last night and they were one of the best chili dogs I have ever had. However, I also doubled the chili powder, added a bit more worchestershire sauce and tomato sauce plus let it simmer a few hours. Kind of defeats the 30 minute thing but I had the time. I also made homemade buns so I think the combination elevated her recipe. I will definitely make them again with the tweaks I listed. It is definitely bland without adding a lot more chili powder.

I usually pan roat the Hot dogs in a non stick skillet with a little oil shaking and rolling the Hot dogs as they cook. I tried it Rachael's way and they seem to come out a little better. Nice technique Rachael ! I also picked up some chili from a fast food place on the way home from work to save a little time. It came out great, the family loved it, and asked for it again.

Loved the hot dogs, that was something different. But the chili was glorified sloppy Joes, which didn't really work for me.
