I was very pleased with this brunch offering.
It was tasty crunchy, and offered variety from the usual brunch fare.

I too used a diced baked ham steak. I have a problem with using canned deviled ham and that is what I thought the ground up ham looked like. I used canned asparagus and swiss cheese since I had it on hand. I used English Muffins and cut them in half. It was nice to have a snack like this for drop-in company. Will be a keeper!

Just the picture of this abomination is reason alone not to make this. Against my better judgment, I made this for a friend and now she refuses to speak to me.

At least that's what my friends all thought, and I would have to agree. My friend and I made this for another friend's birthday brunch and I wish we hadn't. I don't understand the mustard and butter combo spread. But even more disgusting was grinding up the ham into a "ham spread". As two of our friends said, "what the heck is this - SPAM?" Goodness, this was just terrible!

I have found that this recipe will adapt to what deli meats and cheeses are available to me. On the spur of the moment, I was asked to bring an appetizer to my nephew's graduation party. I adapted this recipe and used some smoked turkey and swiss slices that I had on hand with the asparagus. It got rave reviews and my niece begged me for the leftovers and the recipe.
