I used olive oil instead of butter, but left everything else the same. This dish is consistently good and I've made it several times.

I am usually not much of a Rachel Ray fan, but this recipe intrigued me. It was excellent! A huge hit all around. I would recommend 1T of butter as that was plenty. The almonds absolutely make this dish and you really don't need a ton of the french fried onions. We make this, or a variation on this all the time now.

I didn't have the fried onions so I omitted them. The green beans turned out great though. I added some lemon zest too and it was a big hit. I made these for Christmas dinner at my mother in laws house and everyone loved them. Thanks Rachel!

Green Beans usually make it to our Thanksgiving Feast. Long ago I shelved the standard GB casserole for upscale versions, most of which have been very good. Some members of my family however do love the original casserole and I decided that maybe it was about the crunchy fried onions that top it. So this simple recipe makes for the perfect compromise. I did cook and chill the Haricot vert the day before so all there was to do just before dinner was to heat them up in the butter and almonds and top with beans and serve. In the heat of battle I did forget the lemon juice, but the flavor was great. The real key however were the great freshly made fried onions I found at Whole Foods!!! I had trouble keeping people out of them before they were added to the beans. A definite keeper.

This was so good (even though I messed up the recipe a bit. My kids were screaming and I didn't quite read the recipe right. I was supposed to brown the almonds before adding the green beans, but I put it all in at the same time, so the green beans got a little over cooked. Don't skip the step where you cool the bean after cooking - this will help it to maintain the green and firm texture. Remember that it cooks a bit more when you saute it with the almonds and lemon. I didn't use the whole can of fried onions (trying to keep it a bit healthier and it was still great. I used frozen green beans and it was great. I will make this again - even for a weeknight side - but definitely for Thanksgiving again next year.

I made this for a dinner party last night, and people really liked them. I made the mistake of cooking them a bit too long, and overcooked the beans, but that was my fault. Remember to take them out of the water a little early as you can cook them a bit more later if you need to.

I made this recipe for the first time a few nights ago and the whole family liked it. Definitely use fresh green beans, and add no more lemon juice than the recipe calls for. It was so simple, and I just loved the way all the textures came together. The flavors also complemented each other. I will make this again and again.
