so i made this recipe over the weekend and the results were fantastic. i made a double batch of the sauce and let it do its things for a while in a crock pot and added the meat to half of the sauce before assembling the sandwiches and OMG it was tasteeeeeeeeeeeee! the only change i made was adding a little garlic butter on one side of the roll before putting the cheese on. everyone loved them and wanted more.

I needed another way to use freshly made roast beef because hubby & I can only eat so much in one sitting (and we have a slicer. I used par-baked baguettes (which are amazingly delicious and easy, 8 mins from frozen to table!, tripled the amount of shallots and put them on the top of the meat, covered with provolone and put them under the broiler for a few minutes. We were amazed at how good it was. This recipe is a definite keeper. When my hubby brought in leftovers to work the next day, his whole office wanted to know what that delicious smell was and how could we possibly have made resturant quality dippiing sauce? Little do they know just how fast and easy it was!

My husband loves French Dips so I had to try this recipe and true to all the comments... it was wonderful! Didn't have Sherry so used Red Wine Vinegar that someone else suggested and it worked nicely. Best part was this recipe was super quick and easy to make.

I really liked this recipe, but only with the right bread. The first time I made it, I bought steak rolls from the supermarket. But as soon as the bread hit the jus, it turned to mush. (ever taken a sandwich on a boating trip, and the sandwich got wet? So the second time I tried, I make rolls from scratch; a standard baguette recipe. The bread turned moist and juicy when dunked, but not mushy. Perfect! The jus was so good, I had to refill my dunking bowl before the sandwich was gone.

My hubby says this is one of the best things I've EVER made him. It was fabulous. I've tried other french dip/philly type sandwiches and this one is the best, by far! I made another one off of another website earlier today and it was nowhere near as good as this and it was much more time-consuming. This is another winner!

Love this recipe. It's so easy and kicks up a simple sandwhich. We add some Swiss cheese and put it under the broiler to melt and it is just heaven. We eat this simple food a couple of times a month.

Added provolone. Easy to prepare and very tasty. My boyfriend devoured his sandwich and headed for seconds. Highly reccommend for dinner on workdays.

I wanted an easy French dip recipe for my husband and this was it! I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I think it would be great with any sort of meat sandwich including steak.
