This is easily the best meatballs I ever made - my whole family LOVED it! I used 2 lbs of extra lean ground beef and bleu cheese. The sauce was the greatest too! This is easy and a definite at my table for years to come!

My friend cooked this up for me on Sunday and it was amazing. The Gorgonzola gives the meatballs a strong but pleasing taste and the Gravy is so yummy to top it off. I love this so much that I am making it for myself this week. The mashed potatoes were amazing as well :

It would have been nice to post a picture to see what the finished product looked like. I'm quite sure it would have been drastically different from what my husband created...

    Questions:
    - Provide a guideline for seasoning... you can't season raw meat 'to taste'!
    - Weren't you supposed to brown the onions before adding the sauce?
    - Canned chopped tomatoes have a great deal of liquid that needs to be boiled off, extending this recipe beyond the expected '30 minutes'
    - There was far too much chicken stock and cream, resulting in a tasteless, bland, very watery sauce

I saw this on TV and told my husband he should try it... but without clearer instructions and maybe a few pictures, I wouldn't advise an inexperienced cook to try this, unless for experimental purposes (have a back-up planned.

I love to cook and my husband and I rarely go out to dinner because the food made at home is so much better, not to mention, way less expensive. I made this with the mashed potatoes/spinach and it was delicious!! I added the gorgonzola to the potato/spinach combination and my husband claimed that this was one of the best meals that he has had recently.

The only caveat...this takes more than 30 minutes to make.....a good weekend or company dish.

We watched Rachel make these meatballs and sauce on her show yesterday. We were expecting guests for dinner and had planned on making a shrimp entre. When we saw this we decided that we would give it a try. Wow, the flavors in the meatballs and sauce were fantastic. The presentation was easy to accomplish and ours looked just like Rachel's. Our guests were super impressed and everyone asked for the recipe. I would suggest baking the meatballs longer than the recipe calls for. I think that 35-40 minutes is more reasonabe as these make BIG meatballs. The gorgonzola put this recipe over the top and made this a meal you might find in your favorite steak house. We used garlic mashed potatoes bought at the grocery store and doctored them up with extra butter and pepper. Wonderful meal for company....easy and stress free.
