I guess all the flavor must be in the salsa and slaw because I used just the marinade for my chicken and there was no flavor.

In fairness, I used chili powder instead of cumin and I used less than the recipe stated because my family doesn't like spicy food but there was zero flavor.

I add a chopped chili in adobo sauce to the marinade, this adds a little more heat and smokey flavor. I also marinate the chicken for at least 4 hours. We grill it on the gas barbecue.

We make this slaw often with other barbecue dishes in the summer and it's always well received.

I had a friend over for dinner last night - these were incredible! What a great spring or summer recipe. The only change that I made, is that I grilled the chicken on the outdoors grill. This recipe is great for when you get bored of plain chicken (again! and bored of grilling burgers.

Next time I might try marinating the chicken the same way, grill it on the BBQ, and slice it up for a chicken salad (I'd use the sandwich "toppings" as elements in the salad instead.

We enjoyed this recipe. I did leave it in the marinade for a bit longer though, to get even more flavor. Nancy in Beverly, MA, your comment (review was rude. Why did you even try when you wrote that even the picture looked discusting? First time cooking?

I love this recipe! I followed it to the word, and it came out really delicious. It's easy to make, and it's also delicious when paired with garlic mashed potatoes. The flavors and textures all work really well together. I'll definitely be using this one again!

My family enjoys this sandwich! I let the chicken sit in the marinade over night or for most of the day. If you marinate for the amount of time the recipe calls for then you won't really be able to tast any flavor.
