I thought this recipe was to die for! I love fish, and I really enjoyed the simplicity of this recipe, as well as its nutritional value. Many fish taco recipes call for battering and deep-frying the fish, and this way of cooking still provided a strong flavor profile without adding a ton of fat.
In response to other reviewers' comments, you should ALWAYS be careful when following a recipe, especially regarding spices. I thought the amount of cayenne was wonderful, but that's only in response to my personal tolerance. But especially when you're making something for the first time, TEST the level of spice/heat - start with half of the called-for amount, and work from there. Following a recipe to the T is never smart. And if you fall into an unsatisfactory place, be a problem-solver! If the sauce is too spicy, try adding more yogurt or a bit of water. If it's too yogurty, add some water or more avocado. Nothing should ever be thrown out, use your noggin!!

Like Someone said...Halibut for Fish Tacos??? Rachel can afford it ...but it's like using Grey Goose in a Vodka and Tonic. Plus to the "poster" way down the list... YES... you CAN grill fish for taco. You FRY everything????? called tasty and less fatso.

So good! Took other's suggestion of substituting cilantro for the scallions. For diet reasons skipped the tortilla but added sauteed veggies with cumin and spread the sauce over the filet. I used light sour cream (no plain yogurt in the house and I'm thinking it will be great on my turkey burgers. Can't wait to make this again.

I really liked it a lot. I made it with Parmesan Crusted Tilapia - YUM! - but if I make it again, I will change a few things. First, I would use less cayenne pepper. It was almost too hot for my taste (I deemed it bearable, my mother deemed it unbearable! I would probably do 1/4 tsp instead. Also, I only found a 6oz thing of yogurt, and I still was a bit to....yogurty. I mean it was good - I just think it would have been better with less yogurt and more lime juice. I thought the amount of avocados was insane so I was stupid and only used 2. Use all of them haha.
Even still, it was very very yummy.

I really liked the guacamole sauce. I bought a strong cayenne pepper and the spice was really made the sauce. The yogurt is a good healthy alternative ingredient and I would make the sauce as a dip without the tacos sometimes as well. I used cod instead of halibut to save on cost. I chose a healthy high fiber tortilla but next time I would likely go with basic white flour tortillas or serve them in lettuce wraps.

The guacamole sauce was too lemony. I had to add another avacado and more yogurt to dilute it. The fish was just blah. I usually love Rachael's recipes, but this was a complete miss - I would not make this again.

Made these last night. I used tilapia because halibut seemed like too much of an investment for something that was going to end up in a tortilla topped with guacamole sauce. I don't think we sacrificed anything in the taste department! The sauce, as mentioned many times before, is delicious! Next time, I'll serve them with cilantro for extra flavor. Loved these and will be making them again. Thanks Rachael!
