amusing, I feel that all the "one star" graders are so severe because they do not have any idea what kind of cheeses Rachel Ray is talking about, except for the liverot, that should spell LivArot, her idea is excellent.... beware people with one star, there are more than Mild and sharp cheddaror Mozarella offered today in american markets. look, sniff, and enjoy ....having a generous platter of cheese at your next party will open your friends eyes on your good taste and imagination. but do not drizzle lavender honey or balsamic vinagar on anything, this should be left to the discretion of the individual... for me it would be a sacrilege if my cheese wasn't presented as nature intended it to be eaten "au naturel" a good cheese doesn't need to be masked. Just a good piece of french or italian bread should be sufficient.

Carol, thank you for your post! I am greatful for this recipe. I have been given the task of bringing the chees platter for Christmas and drew a blank on what cheeses and would have universal appeal. Thank you Racheal!

There seem to be quite a few food snobs posting here. You all may be brilliant, sophisticated gourmet chefs who don't need help from anyone, but not everyone knows how to put together a platter like this. If you haven't been exposed to it or haven't attempted it before, it can be difficult to know what kinds of cheeses, meats, etc. to use. This can give people the confidence to go on and try other combinations. If Rachael Ray is too simplistic for you, there are so many other shows to watch that might better meet your exquisitely high culinary standards.

A cheese platter can be great if you use high quality and les generic cheeses. Platters may be simple but they can easily be dressed up with lavender honey or aged balsamic drizzled over certain cheeses. I don't think I have ever seen such a primitive platter. This recipe gives the art of entertaining with cheese, a bad name.

I agree that there are more creative and delicious cheese/appetizer platters elsewhere on FN. This was just throwing whatever specialty stuff was in the fridge on a platter.

While I agree that this doesn't really require a recipe, I must say this is not my favorite platter of this sort. I think Emeril, Giada and Mario have done great antipasta platters. As for the breadtsticks wrapped in ham, look up Giada's recipe for prosciutto wrapped breadsticks. They are so, so easy and everybody raves about them at every party. They are great for a dinner buffet, or they make an impressive appetizer. I just can't make enough, though - they disappear in minutes!!

C'mon, Rachael, don't insult your fans like this. Do we really need a recipe to throw some stuff on a plate like this?
