Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unpopped corn kernels
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Place popcorn, sugar, oil, chipotle and salt in a large kettle or pot with a tight fitting lid over medium heat. When corn begins to pop, shake the pot constantly. When popping slows, remove from heat and transfer popped kettle corn to a bowl.

To keep the kettle corn sweet, omit the chipotle powder and adjust sugar to 1/3 cup.

Felt like I was at the Fair!!

Loved it. I followed directions EXACTLY, for sweet kettle corn. (omitted the cayenne and adjusted sugar to 1/3 cup.) I... removed popcorn from heat as popping SLOWED, and it did not burn. Read more

This was my first time making kettle corn and it turned out great. Do not add the sugar at the very beginning. Instead,... wait until the oil is sizzling for a few seconds, then add the sugar. Also, I swirled the pot several times over the heat while it was cooking. Absolutely no burning at the corn has a beautiful golden color and a delicious flavor.Read more

    1st Time Success

I had nice results with this recipe. I read one of the reviews before I made it and went by their modifications. I halved... the amount of popcorn because I only made it for my fiance and myself. I used 1/4 cup popcorn kernals, 1/6 cup canola oil, a pinch of seasoning salt, and pinch of sea salt, and 1/6 cup white sugar. I put everything in the pan except the sugar. I just used a saucer because that is all I have for now. The heat was set to high. Once the oil heats up, the popcorns begins to pop and once I hear it, I pour in the sugar and stir it as best I can without popcorn flying out. I was happy with the subtle flavor the seasoning salt adds. Some of the popcorn did have a bit of golden color from the sugar. This was a fun recipe and my fiance and I both are enjoying it.Read more

    A Family Favorite!!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Our family LOVES this recipe. I omit the cayenne pepper, but other than that I make it as directed. I use a whirly pop to... pop it all in. That might make the difference in it not burning. I do think it would be difficult to make in a regular pan and not have it burned. If you have a whirly popper this recipe is a MUST. Enjoy!!! !!!Read more
