Fantastic...I subbed in half Linguica, half regular bulk pork sausage. My only complaint about any of these recipes is that no nutritional information is given.

Delicious, but I was alarmed at how much bright-orange sausage fat rose to the top as the stoup was simmering. Next time I will be sure to spoon off most of the fat after browning the meat. Also, to up the nutrition factor, I left my potato unpeeled and added some leftover shredded savoy cabbage in with the kale.

Wow! So good : Very tasty and satisfying.
I only changed the sausage to mild and I used the button mushrooms.

This is a superb dish. Hearty, great flavor, delicious, satisfying. I can see easy ways to "make it my own," too.
1 That much sausage can easily be used for twice that much soup. It's really a meat dish the way it is.
2 I would further reduce the price by using less canned stock and make my own with bouillon.
3 One person recommended using the leftovers over rice. I can see that would be an excellent use.
4 Adjust the liquid to get a thickness like baked beans. (That's what I was looking for when I came across this great-sounding recipe.
I followed the recipe closely and we both loved it.

This yummy stoup is a meal in a bowl! I have made this recipe more than half a dozen times trying a variety of different sausages (italian, kielbasa, chipotle and since our family likes some kick, the hot Italian turkey sausage is the winner.
The only modifications I make is to add seasonal yellow/green zuchini and/or yellow squash, about a tsp of cayenne, extra lentils and double the kale/chard. Great comfort dinner or lunch served with homemade corn bread (sweet balanced w/the heat!. Makes a lot and tastes even better the next day!

This soup was DELICIOUS! I accidentally bought bok choy (which I couldn't believe I did, and I probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference! It was fabulous! I froze the leftovers 2 cups at a time, and it tastes just as good reheated! YUM!

I absolutely love, love, love it! I substituted the sausage for hot italian turkey and chicken. This was simply because I prefer turkey sausage and the store only had 1/2 lb of the turkey and the rest chicken. I was a little worried about mixing the two but it was still awesome. My family enjoyed it and it is definitely a keeper. Thanks Rachael for a wonderful dish!

I don't like the plain lentil soups that i've tried. But I love this soup. The sausage gives it that kick of flavor I was missing. My husband hates lentils and won't even try plain lentil soup. But he did eat and enjoy a serving every time I served it. He didn't love it, but hey, its a start. I used sweet turkey sausage as that is my preference, but other than that, made the recipe as written. I just ate some that I had previously frozen and honestly, you couldn't tell you were eating something out of the freezer.
