Made this tonight using turnip greens fresh from the garden! WOW!!!!! It increased the prep time a bit but was wonderful! I can't wait to have it left over as so many of you have described. The recipe made probably 6 servings as written. I used only 1 lb. of sweet and hot Italian sausage but everything else was by the recipe.

Now that cooler weather is finally here, DO try this "stoup." It's excellent. Not a bit of it went to waste at our house, and my husband claims not to like soups (or spicy stuff for that matter. I used spinach, tho I'm sure it would be delicious with kale or other greens. I do think that the smoked paprika and fire roasted tomatoes are important to the recipe. If you can get them, use them. (I also used a smoky seasoned salt in place of plain salt.

My mother and sister loved this. I cooked it the day my Mom got out of the hospital and needed some comforting. I on the other hand, did not like the spice in the sausage. I think it was caraway or fennel. I would make it but use ground beef or turkey next time.

I made this stoup for dinner and as my son said just the smell as he entered the house was unbelievable. We don't go much for the real hot taste around here so I used the suggstions to tone it down and it was just perfect for all of us. We like watching Rachel and were glad to find this recipe to add to the family favorites.

The meal was excellent and very filling. Can't say it was anywhere near 30 minutes to fix; took a lot longer and with 2 people cooking. The rosemary was a little overpowering so I would certainly cut back the amount and definitely use a MUCH BIGGER POT to cook it all in.

Rachel's recipes usually come out very well for me, but I did not like this soup at all. My mom's more simple lentil soup recipe comes out much better...
