This is a wonderful sweet dressing. I have made it many many times over the years and I always get asked for the recipe when I make it for friends. I also use red wine vinegar in mine. Thanks Rachel for this recipe...it is always a hit!

We made this dressing twice now...it is awesome. I have to avoid soy, so we left out the Worcestershire sauce. In its place, we added 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard, and 1/4 teaspoon celery seed. Not really an equal substitute, but it worked out well. We used white whine vinegar the first time and organic apple cider vinegar the second.

Based on previous comments regarding the "too sweet" outcome of this dressing, I initially reduced the amount of sugar used by one tablespoon but then found it a little too vinegary. Ultimately, I added the recommended amount of sugar and found that seasoning with salt and pepper--as directed-- really cut through the sweetness. Once drizzled over the salad, the sweet/savory ratio was perfect. I've never had much success with homemade salad dressings, so this is a first for me. Thanks, Rachael.

I never knew that dressing could be so easy and end so tasty! It's reminiscent of Catalina dressing more than French to me.
I didn't have white wine vinegar so I used red wine vinegar. I was also out of garlic powder (how the heck did that happen? so I used ground garlic. We do have to "rough it" during a 2 whammy blizzard, right?
We loved this dressing. And I think I'll play with it a bit too. Maybe some feta??
Thanks Rachael!!! (wonder if she actually reads these notes???

to being a kid...probably almost the only dressing available then...all my family had anyway. This was spot on and very much enjoyed by my husband and I...kind of that good ole 'western dressing' taste and aroma. Well done Rachael!

I didn't have white wine vinegar so I used red wine vinegar instead. I love this dressing and it's super easy to make. I'll never buy French dressing from the store again. Thanks Rachael!

I'm not even a real 'french dressing' fan & I loved this salad. It was easy & quick so we're making it again this weekend for family coming for dinner! I think we'll toss in some cheese, just to dress it up a bit. Since our neighbors watch their sugar intake - we took someones advice and used Splenda - it worked great & no one could tell the difference. Other than that I followed RR measurements exactly (which is a first for me - normally I 'eyeball' everything!
Thanks again - Rachael - with a bit of Feta Cheese ... this will be a perfect addition to our 'fancy Saturday night dinner' with family (using another of your dinner treats. Chicago Fans
