I was a bit disappointed in this recipe. My first problem was with the baking time. The first batch burned, so I adjusted my time to 9 minutes. The cookies came out nice and soft in the center and crispy on the outside. My second problem was the cookies had a strange after taste. This may have been my fault because I use lemon peel instead of lemon zest. I thought that the icing would make them taste better, but it really didn't. The icing did have excellent flavor, though. I may try this recipe again and use the lemon zest.

This cookie was a big hit at my holiday party. I refrigerated for about an hour. I would recommend not starting the recipe by saying to preheat oven, when the recipe then calls for the dough to be refrigerated. But the taste and consistency was great.

Thees cookies are aweful... I even tried them in a cookie press, they still melted into thin rounds. I think there is just too much butter in the recipe. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BAKE THESE COOKIES...

I don't know how everyone else made theirs, but this was by FAR my favorite cookie I have made in a long time! It was delicious, moist and we snacked on them for a full week. I would say, if you love lemon flavor, and love cookies, make these, and decide for yourself if you love them. I am certainly glad I didnt read these other reviews before making them. LOOOOOVEEED them!

This recipe DOES NOT WORK. It's a good thing that at least there is a footnote warning us that this has not been tested, but PLEASE change the ratio of the ingredients!
The first time I made these, they were a total waste of time. However, as I hate wasting good ingredients, I then left it to my mother, who used the baked cookies as a base for a wonderful sponge cake. The second time around I made the recipe following again the exact instructions and only baked a small portion. The result was devastating, they were like lemon pancakes but flat and hard and so not presentable. I also realized that the lemon sugar on top adds to the horrible effect. So I added about one cup flour and some chopped nuts and used it a base for a tart. Baked at 200 Celcius for 20-25 minutes, until just moist but golden. Didn't use baking beans to keep it flat as it flattened as soon as it came out of the oven. Put on some whipped cream and it was amazing! Everyone loved it!

This recipe was a total waste of great ingredients. This would have made 90 cookies, not 30 unless they were huge, not 1.5 inches. There was too much flour and butter for a normal food processor

What in the world happened? Made the recipe as listed, and the first cookies that came out of the oven were lemon flavored tortillas.
So, i added a cup of flour and half teasp of baking powder to remaining dough.....second round of baked cookies i put little balls into cupcake pans--i shouldve sprayed cupcake tin because now theyre all stuck in there.

the next attempt to salvage: made tiny balls less than an inch, dipped in sugar--did NOT flatten, and threw them on a cookie sheet.......finally, they look like cookies.

how do they taste? eh. i feel sick . the dough tastes yummier than the cookie.

This recipe does not work out as is! The cookies are greasy and burn on the sheet within the first half of cooking time. The dough itself is also greasy and melts when you handle it. The taste of the cookie salvages it from a total loss though so please some one at Food Network, fix the recipe instructions and ingredient amounts!
