My family loved this recipe. The flavor was excellent, very fresh. I would probably add more vegetables (increase mushrooms and substitute diced carrots for shredded. I think I would increase the amount of stock. My kids ran out of broth before they did the gnocchi/dumplings.

I really enjoyed the flavor of this dish. My only disappointment was the color of it. Like these chef's always say ... "you eat with your eyes first." Between the chicken stock, carrots and pesto it ended up being the color of ... I won't say, I don't want to be gross. You could probably figure it out. Other than that ... delicious!

When I first read this recipe, I was hesitant to use it because i am not a big fan of basil. I must say that the chicken mixed with the broth and vegetables is great on its own. However, the basil mixture does add a very unique and distinctive flavor which makes it seem gourmetish. I recommend getting a small bowl and adding a small ladle's worth of the chicken/vegetable with a teaspoon or two of the basil mixture and see if you like it. If you don't like the basily taste, leave as is and it'll be delicious anyway.
If you do, great! just add a little bit at a time to make sure it's just right.
This was a hit with my family. A definite keeper!

Very tasty dish. But, it took me an hour just to get it on the table. Not a 30 minute dish, for me anyway. But Rachael made it look so easy and effortless to make and she even had another dish she made on the same episode! So for now...it will remain a weekend dish. One that I will repeat again, especially on a cold winters night. Thanks so much Rachael for the recipe!

I made this recipe for my family tonight and it was absolutely phenomenal! The flavors were both rich and fresh. I think the pesto is optional - it definitely adds a wonderful dimension to the dish, but the gravy is rich and full of flavor without it.

I watched Rachel Ray make this recipe and I thought it sounded very flavorful and intriguing. So I went out the next day to buy additional ingredients to prepare the dish. It was absolutely fabulous and it is one of my favorite go to dishes now.

I saw this on the show early this morning and made this for dinner. My VERY Italian husband really liked it! I did change it up a little tho. After adding the chicken back to the pot, I also added a couple of handfuls of chopped baby spinach. When it was time to prepare the gnocchi, I realized that not only did I not have fresh lemon, I didn't even have any bottled lemon juice. So I tossed about 1/2 cup of white wine into the melted butter ans sauteed the cooked gnocchi in the wine-butter. Before placing the gnocchi on the dish, I sprinkled the dish with shaved Parmesan cheese and then covered it with the gnocchi. YUMMO !!!

Taste was pretty good. Would recommend having very little pieces of chicken - I hated the big bites. Overall flavor was excellent and was very filling.

Not my absolute favorite, but would probably make again.
