I was just looking for a recipe for seared tuna. The seasonings were just perfect and I highly recommend that you do heat the sesame seeds. The flavor that the seeds give off is what makes the whole dish. This was sooooo good, I can't wait to try the beef and the chicken.

It sounds like a good feast though I think in the light of the Japanese spirit, the whole recipe is a little too overwhelming and not in a perfect balance. Here's my reasons,

    1. Beef + Chicken + Tuna + Ahi + Fruits. A little too much protein and calories. Taking any two off the list and replacing with vegies like cabage, peppers, mushrooms...would be nice.

    2. It is always good to keep the natural taste of your fresh ingredients. Especially so in orgiental cookings. Dark soy sauce and five spices is a little too strong for keeping the original flavor. Light soy sauce, minced garlice, and a tiny touch of Sichuan pepper and chillie flakes would be my choice. Or fresh ground black pepper would do such fine.

    And some sugguestions,

Having finely chopped green onions in the marinade adds excellent fragrance and flavor while grilling.

Wash the rice repeatedly until the water runs clear before cooking. That makes the rice a lot nicer.

i didn't like the tuna at all (the tuna alone gets 2 stars, but my boyfriend liked it. the beef and chicken were excellent. i used a grill pan so i skipped using skewers at all. great with beer.
