I tweaked this recipe a bit and made it all in one pan. My husband and I loved it and I will definitely make it again.

I had an abundance of knockwurst due to a sale so did not make the pork chops portion on this recipe as it was just the two of us. Each item complimented the other and it was relatively easy to make.

I was kind of hesitant to make this but I wanted to try something german and this sounded pretty interesting. I made the bacon, onion and apple sauce. I did not use the german beer though. I added flour and chicken stock and a bit of dill pickle juice to give it flavor. I mixed that in with some spaetzle (german dumplings and served it alongside some apple bourbon pork loin. It was missing something though, maybe the beer would have been better than the chicken stock. Over all a good dinner. I will make this again and am looking forward to trying the knocks and sauerkraut.

I made this last night for dinner and followed all the instructions exactly.
I had never used sauerkraut at home and was pleased with the result of rinsing it and adding the apples and onions and other flavors. It was very mellow. We
really liked all the mingled and warm
flavors together.
We all like to order Reuben sandwiches in restaurants and now I think I can make a good one at home using this method, and deli meat.
It is definitely a thirty minute meal but after it sat covered on simmer for an hour or so it became even better.

This was a good recipe. Definitly different from what I make on a day to day basis. Strong flavor with the beer. I would definitly add more apples. Especially if your an apple lover. They seemed to shrivel after being cooked.

It was very good food...and I should be able to comment on it because I am German.
Little tip on the side...through some extra bacon in the sauerkraut it gives it extra smoky flavour.

This was a fun theme for our family. The kids helped make it, so it was super easy. Tasted wonderful. Nice to have something a little different.

Rachael I have to tell you my husband is very hard to cook for. I fixed the Chops (he loved them, I did not have the beer so to change the flavor a bit I added a 1/8 tsp of cinn. to compliment the apples and added 1/8 C. rice and a few black beans. I used 4 chops.
Thanks so much

I definately liked the knockwurst better than the pork chops. The pork chops just might take a little bit more experience than I have right now.
