I love this dip, I made it for New Years Eve and I'm going to have to make a new tradition in my home. Next time I'm going to drain my salsa, but everyone else loved that it stayed "moist".

I absolutely LOVE this dip. I have never had it be soupy and have always used the chipotle salsa. You definitely want to make this where there will be alot of people, because it makes a ton!! I make it for our New Year's Eve party. It is the best!! And for the person who didn't know where the garlic is in the recipe, it is in the avocado. Great recipe, Rachel!!!!

I don't know why everyone says it is soupy. The recipe didn't call for you to drain the black beans, but really what does every recipe tell you to do with beans, drain baby drain! I never could find chipotle salsa, must come from living in a small town and not a large slection in our stores. Used regualr thick and chunky salsa, not runny at all. Thanks for the recipe. I think people come to my 4th of July party just for this.

I did not care for this at all! It was way to runny and I didn't think the flavors were good together. Will not make this again!

I made it for a Cinco de Mayo Party and it taste great. BUT it was not a 7 layer dip it was more like a 7 layer soup. It was very soupy and did not look tasty. I think the chipotle salsa made it very soup. I will make it again but I will use an extra layer of refried beans to try and reduce the soupyness!!

Wanted to give it 0 out of 5, but couldn't, so I will settle for 1 out of 5. I followed the directions exactly (probably for the first time and maybe that was the problem and to begin with, I don't believe anyone has mentioned that the recipe calls for 2 garlic cloves, chopped... but I have yet to find where they are used. I use garlic daily, and one can certainly figure out where they would like to add it, but that was not my point. Secondly, it was a sloppy mess, it tasted good, but looked like someone dropped the seven layer dip and just scooped it back into the bowl- no joke.

Labor and ingredient intensive but flavor wasn't great. Yes, it all ran together like the other reviewers mentioned, but even if it didn't, I still don't think it would have tasted great--too much going on. I didn't see this episode, would be surprised if a non-professional could pull this off in under 30 minutes! In all, I was disappointed and will look for a different "layer dip" recipe next time.

This was delicious! It went by soo fast, everyone LOVED it! I made it for a new year's party, so I made all the ingredients the day before. Since they were refrigerated, they held better when i assembled the layers the day of the party. This solved the problem that most people were experiencing. I added some spices and flavors of my own to each layer. Make sure to use a thick, hearty red salsa. That was the only layer I had a problem with.
