This was great. My husband loved it. I will probably add some paste next time, just to make the sauce a little thicker. It will definitely go on "regular rotation" in my house!

We let it simmer longer than the recipe reccommends to let the sauce thicken more, and add a little spice to suit our tastebuds, but really love the homey, warm feel of this recipe!

Sorry, people but I was expecting alot more from this recipe than I got. Fortunately I had some tomato paste and threw in some basil, oregano and majoram too help with the taste. I didn't want to throw it out and I had to do something so we could eat it.. Way too watery, Not something I will make again. The allspice was just too overpowering.. bottom line. not good.

This is the best sauce, period! The only thing that I add to it is one can of tomato paste and a little bit of sugar. Without it, the sauce is VERY thin, but the tomato paste thickens it right up and the sugar cuts the harshness of the paste. My whole family LOVES this sauce. When I can't think of what to have for dinner or am short on time, this is what we have. And to the person that made this sauce without the mushrooms.....no wonder it wasn't good....the mushrooms ARE the sauce for this recipe! Highly recommend you try it!

Wow! What a great recipe. I used a red wine with a heavy oak flavor, and it just added so much flavor. I served this sauce over home made fresh pasta for a dinner party, and everyone loved it. Everyone loved the sauce. A homerun!

I was not at all pleased with this recipe. I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception of the mushrooms (none on hand. I had to drain some of the fat from the ground beef, and the sauce was still watery to the point I had to thicken it with some flour. This was the second sauce recipe from Rachael that I have tried, and the second one that I didn't care for. I love Rachael and all her shows, but, I think I'll keep to my southern roots and cook with another FoodNetwork host.

This was good...but not the greatest sauce I have ever made. Wish I had some suggestions to give but I don't.
