Although this menu was tasty--it took way longer than 30 minutes. No wonder Rachel seems to be yelling the recipes out--she seems in a giant hurry (as compared to her earlier shows. It would have been a stressful 30 minutes to get this on the table. Advice to Ms. Ray---tone it down a bit--maybe less caffeine......

Tried these recipes out on a family from Guatemala. My son said I was being very confident...the flank steak was delicious with the lime adding a nice zest, black beans and rice quick and good flavor, I had to cook the plantains longer than suggested. I found them to be very dry and still hard so added more chicken broth and put as casserole in microwave for about 5 more minutes which soften them up. The shrimp on top gave it a punch and added moisture to the plantains - everyone enjoyed. Will use this recipe again.

This meal was so fantastic! I only made the steak and rice dishes, but they were both out of this world. One tip I have for those who don't like chopping a lot, I use the diced fresh onions from Trader Joe's for the rice dish. They work well, my eyes don't burn, and my hands don't smell. This recipe is a keeper!

Seasoning on steak was outstanding. Rice was yummy. Didn't make plaintains. My husband said this dish tasted similar to a dish he had at a Cuban restaurant in NYC.

It was very easy to make, the garlic-tomato shrimp could go with extra-extra garlic in this family. My nine and two year old gave it a YAY, and the 5 and 7 year old gave it a NAY. But overall for a family of six we give it 4 stars--good recipe!!!

This recipe is really tasty. But it took me at least 30 minutes just to cut up everything and get out all the equipment!I consider myself a pretty advanced cook but this is way too much stuff going on at once.I won't do it again as a whole but will probably do each thing individually. My family loved everything, but it took at least an hour and a half. Getting everything done at the same time was a real challenge!

If this is a taste of what Miami has to offer, I'm headed there very fast. This recipe was super easy to follow (I'm an amateur cook. My family loved it, even my picky 2 year old. I will definitely continue to use 30 min. meals as a teaching tool. It did take me about 45 mins and a little extra help from my husband, but like I said I am an amateur and am sure that comes along with practice. I love the show and this was the first meal I dared to try. Don't know what I was waiting for.
