I ruined some beautiful sweet potatoes on this one. I agree with those that have said that the banana, orange, and chicken stock flavos really clashed.

We use more butter and heavy cream,we also bake the potatoes whole then peel and mash them, place in large retangle baking pan, top with small marshmellows and brown in oven till marshmellows are lightly browned. This is a table favorite for the picky kids who dont eat anything. Caution dont get it too sweet the orange juice is sweet.

Not a sweet potato person, but now things have changed.
Used 1/3 cup brown sugar (not 1/2 cup
Used milk instead of chicken stock
Used a frozen banana (really ripe
Something about the banana/sweet potato combo that makes this recipe a knock out!

I just made this to go along with our Easter Ham and the whole family loved it! You cannot beat the fresh nutmeg and banana mixed in. I'm so glad you do what you do Rachael! Mauzz~

This recipe has just the right amount of orange and banana flavor. I would use a little less chicken stock than the recipe calls for, or as another person suggested, subsitute cream. The consistency was a little too much like baby food, and next time will try to make the dish thicker. All in all, the sweet potatoes had a great taste and were just as good the next day!

My family and I enjoyed Rachel's sweet potato recipe. I thought it was very tasty. I just added cinnamon because I love cinnamon with sweet potatoes. Will definitely make again.

I made this for a Thanksgiving get together and it was a FLOP! I followed the instructions to a T, but the flavors did not go well together. The potatos ended up bitter and nasty. The bannana, orange and chicken flavors were all fighting with each other and it was absolutly horrible. I was embarassed to have taken this recipe.

I can't guess how many times I've made sweet potatoes over the years for a holiday meal, and have never had so many rave reviews from my guests till this version. What a wonderful idea to add the bananas! My sis insisted on me providing the recipe before she left for the evening! Don't forget, that bananas turn brown in the fridge, so don't be surprised when you take your leftovers out of the fridge, but taste great the second time around anyway!

I really liked this take on sweet potatoes. I did a 1/2 banana as suggested since I didn't know how much my potatoes weighed. My husband thought it was a little too sweet, but he isn't much fo sweet dinner dishes anyway. The leftovers were delish the next day too!
