I don't know what you people are talking about. This recipe sucked! It was like RR was forcing herself to come up with a new recipe, any recipe, so she just threw whatever together. There are WAY too many dominant flavors... Horseradish, worchestershire, rosemary, sharp cheddar. Plus, even with the thickening of the sauce, the veggie mixture is still too watery. It's a weird recipe, and I'm really annoyed that I spent all that money on those ingredients.

OMG!! This is the best no-meat dish I've ever made!!! I did tweak the recipe a little, mostly because I wasn't paying attention and forgot some ingredients (egg, nutmeg, parsnips [store didn't have them], and it still came out great!! Two cups of broth probably would've worked a little better, but this dish is so tasty that I don't mind. With the chop time, it does take about an hour.

This was a wonderful, satisfying dish....especially when you are trying to convert someone to a healthier lifestyle. I used thyme instead of rosemary ( because I had that- fresh on-hand .
Really good and you could certainly interchange vegetables as needed or what is available.

Yummy! Everyone loved it. I didn't put in the horseradish, but did find cheddar cheese with horseradish, I put in about 1/2 cup mixed with the sharp cheddar cheese. FYI: Trader Joes has kale in a bag (already cleaned & chopped. This was a very filling & tasty dinner. I'll be making this one again!!

This recepie was ok, i realized i'm not a big fan of mushrooms /: is there anything else to subsitute them with? I did use spinach instead of the kale but used all the other ingredients. Besides the mushrooms this dish was good, next time i'm probably going to use some different ingredients to fit my taste. (:

I made this but used spinach instead of kale (I don't care much for kale, also I added fresh green beans and I used pickled jalapenos instead of horseradish (the hubby hates radish and I didn't have white cheddar so I used regular sharp cheddar cheese. I really enjoyed this, only next time I suggest that we 86 the nutmeg. It is such a strong spice and it seemed to make it's presence known and I would prefer to feel more flavors from the onions, worchestershire sauce, and garlic. Nice vegetarian take, Rachael. I wish Food Network would get an ALL VEGETARIAN cooking show.

We love this dish! I didn't have the exact ingredients ie parsnips, veggie broth, and we used garlic in the mashed potatoes. Rachel says go with what you have LOL. I halved it because there are only two of us and it was plenty! First time to cook kale, good stuff! As others stated, it took awhile to prepare, I think I need a sous chef to do my prep work! : Thanks Rachel!

This is a great meatless pie. I also added a layer of corn on top of the mushroom layer. The mashed potatos were awesome. I used half the amount of horseradish. I also had enough for two more meals which I put in the freezer. I wasn't sure how well it would freeze but I tried the first frozen pie this week and it was great. Will make it again.

Although meatless, please know that this recipe is not vegetarian. Worchestershire sauce has anchovies in it. Substitute Braggs Liquid Aminos or another vegetarian option for the worchestershire sauce. (I'm a little disappointed that Rachel and the Food Network didn't take more care about this point.

I wanted to cut down on the dairy so I used soy creamer instead of milk and egg replacer for the egg. I also used: no extra salt; vegetable stock; spinach instead of kale; and a little less horseradish than what it called for due to personal taste. Flavor was still good. I will be making this recipe again. Next time however, I will try a little wasabi in the potatoes instead of horseradish and vegan chicken-flavored stock rather than vegetable stock.
