Positively love this recipe, as I do most of Rachael's moms' recipes...

    Fair....not good.....not great!
I enjoyed the comments posted by Chef 3967113 but I disagree with them. You do not need to waste a mid-priced Champagne on this concoction, IMO. Your budget priced $12-15.00 variety will work great, especially if you are a 1st timer with Angostura bitters. I think I spelled that right! I agree about the Grand Marnier. There is no subbing for this.... ever! I garnish with orange and lemon because I am a wild and crazy guy!

Using Bitters is definitely an acquired taste; but for those of us who enjoy cocktails with Bitters, this makes a terrific drink! Do use Grand Marnier and not a less expensive type of orange liquer, as this can definitely affect the quality of this cocktail. And of course, use at least a medium-priced champagne which will make or break this drink. When I made this for the first time, I used only two drops of Bitters, and a little less Grand Marnier than called for. I got a bit more aggressive with tweaking the amounts of each ingredient to my taste once I found I liked he original recipe. The lemon add a nice fresh touch, so don't leave it out. Enjoy!
