I too used complete pancake mix and it was very easy, stuck to the apples well, and the coating browned beautifully. My collage age kids and their friends requested this as a regular weekend treat. I added ground cinnamon to the powdered sugar and sifted over the hot fritters and it was amazing. I do believe having the oil hot enough is key in not soaking up to much of the oil while frying. Rachel Rocks!!

Love-love-love the ease of making the batter however I found the flavor boring so I got creative. I added cinnamon, a little maple syrup, brown sugar and a shot of french vanilla extract. I also fried mine in a blend of oil and butter flavor crisco. Serve them immediately with an amaretto cream sauce drizzle and they're decadent!

These are delicious. I used Bisquick and it wouldn't stick. So, I made it really thick and loaded it on one side and put it in the oil batter side down. Flipped it after a few minutes and voila! Open-faced apple fritters. I didn't have confectioners sugar either. Just sprinkled on granulated. So good. A good way to use up left over apples. Just don't make these before you make dinner. Ate too many of them.

Tried it with bisquick first and couldn't get the batter to stick. So glad i gave these a second try with farm fresh apples and the right pancake mix. They are amazing! Sometimes simple really is much better..

This recipe is amazing! I couldn't get the batter to stick to the apples the first time I made them, and I didn't have any flour on hand. So instead I added just a bit less water to the batter to make it a little thicker. It worked great!! These fritters are so delicious and really easy to make!

Just made these delicious sounding fritters===first time as written. They were greasy and batter would not stick to the apple. So I modified---added one egg to the batter and floured the apples before dipping them . NOW WE HAVE A QUICK AND EASY APPLE FRITTER . TRY CIMMAMON & SUGAR, x-SUGAR, OR HOW ABOUT ALITTLE MAPLE SYRUP YUM-O
