This is not your typical burger. It's
very spicy and flavorful! In fact, it doesn't even taste like a burger, it's much better.

This is a great recipe - the smoky cheese really completes the dish.

This recipe is easy to partially prepare ahead of time and then finish up right before you want to eat. It has just enough spice to add a good flavor without it being too spicey for those (like me! that can't handle too much spice. Can be made without the jalepenos too for just as good a flavor. The smoked cheese brings the whole thing together. My husband isn't suppose to eat cheese and he says it's just not the same wihtout it.

I really did not care for the flavor of the Chilli Burgers, perhaps because I am not all that crazy about chilli powder in general. I did like the idea of serving them on portobello caps--very dramatic. However, for an everyday meal, I would rather use regular buns. Also, if made as the recipe calls for the burgers are huge and take much longer to cook through than the recipe indicates.

I loved the Macho Gazpacho salad though. It's a very cool, flavorful, and colorful salad and is particularly good in the summer months.

this was a good one. I fixed it for company and it was really liked. Only thing I did different was used just sharp cheddar slices as our store doesn't carry the smoked. Even the one young man wanted to know what was in the burger. He had his as a sandwich being he didnt like mushrooms. Raved about how good it was. Thank you for a good one and easy. Pauter
