Great recipe, but I agree that next time I will use 1/2 cup of sugar instead of 1 cup. The whole family loved it! It takes no time at all.

This was very yummy. However, on the recipe online it read 1 cup of sugar, but on the episode she said 1/2 cup. So I went with the 1/2 cup because 1 cup would be way too much. Other than that, delicous! I didn't even need syrup. It was very crunchy and not soggie like regular french toast that I have made in the past. Thanks Rachael!

I wonder if there is an error in the ingredients? 1 cup of sugar is way too much, in my opinion. I made this for Sunday brunch and (like several other reviewers cut the sugar by less than 1/2. The end result was terrific, but if I had used the amount of sugar called for in the recipe we wouldn't have been able to eat it.

Otherwise a unique variation of the same old French toast and a recipe I will use again.

I've made this recipe for my wife and I and for special occasions such as Christmas morning with the extended family. It is such a hit, everyone loves it!
The compote over the bread goes great with fresh fruit, and breakfast sausage (homemade or store bought is a perfect accompaniment.

This is in my top 10 favorite recipes of all time.
    Great job Rachel!!

This is a very easy quick meal. I substituted Blackberry's for the Blueberry's and it was phenomenal.
