i really really liked this recipe. Its easy and so comforting. I married into a snow plow family and make it EVERY time it snows. I must say though, i find its better w/ a firm stale bread. Otherwise it gets mushy. I like using stale ciabatta bread. It stands up so well even after re heating. the turkey meatballs from the same show were a huge hit. The men didnt even know it was turkey :D

I could eat the pot of this. It's so good. And very filling. I added some sugar to this. Crushed tomatoes are really strong. It needs a little sweet. Otherwise It's delish and so easy to make.
    A keeper!

I wasn't sure what to do with some really good sourdough bread that I bought at a farmers market after it was about four days old. I looked at other recipes and this one sounded great. The only thing that I did different was added chicken sausage. It is so hearty and warmed my insides. Next time I will add some red pepper flakes.

The 1st time I tried Pappa al Pomodoro was in Tuscany while taking cooking lessons. It was my favorite thing we made while there. This was many years ago and I have since lost the recipe and have been searching for a new one ever since....with no luck. I came across this recipe and didn't have high hopes for it, but was pleasantly surprised. While it is not as good as the one from Italy, it comes very close. I will make this again and again!!!!

I had this recipe as a leftover with a lot of more broth and liked it that way. Way too much tomato as presented. Another pint or even quart of broth would be good. That might also be because i used dry bread like you would use to make bread crumbs. The 'tastes' I have had are quite good, but I LOVE bread.

I really liked the idea for this recipe, but like most of the reviewers thought it needed something else. I put chopped green peppers in mine, rosemary (i used dried, it was just fine and I used a mix of whole grain bread slices that I cubed and some leftover sourdough bread I had and the combo was really great! I would just throw any vegetables is there, as well. Why not?

Made this for dinner tonight, and it is super tasty!! I do agree with the other reviewers who have said that the more stale the bread is, the better the results!

I fixed this recipe for my husband and I yesterday, and it was one of the easiest and BEST dishes I've ever made and my husband LOVED it. It was so good, and oh so filling. I can't describe how excellent the flavor is. It was even better today warmed up!

Very good and hearty. A great comfort food for fall & winter. The leftovers were perhaps even better than the fresh off the stove batch.
