This recipe gets such high marks because of the high taste and enjoyment factor along with the simple & frugal aspect. Most of the ingredients come from the pantry. Even my kids liked this one...

This is a very tasty dish and soooo easy to make! The oil, onions cheese and basil on top are a MUST-they add such flavor. My husband who is usually very picky loved it as well. It is very filling and delicious. This one is a keeper!!

I had this exact soup at a restaurant in Florence, Italy. It is simply wonderful and so easy to make - I have made it again and again. It's probably one of the few RR recipes that takes me less than 30 minutes. The secret to this recipe is using high quality ingredients. For the canned tomatoes, it is worth using the more expensive canned varieties such as San Marzano or another Italian brand. Also, make sure to use a hearty bread, such as Ciabatta bread. I usually add at least 2 - 3 qts chicken stock or broth for a soupier consistency. This recipe will serve at least 6. Also, in my opinion, the basil is, in no way, optional. It simply makes the soup! Add at least 1/2 c. basil to the soup while it is cooking and make sure to top each bowl with basil also.

I was a little unsure about this recipe. But boy was I surprised how great it taste. It seemed a little weird putting bread in it. But the taste was out of this world. My son who's a picky eater is asking for me to make this again. It's a must try recipe. And the more fresh garlic the better.

SUPER easy and so good. I put the bread in as bigger chunks than suggested, so perhaps thats why some people complained of it being too soggy. I thought this was perfect. A big hit with my friends.

This soup is so easy and tasty. I actually was surprised at how good it was - it tasted like I spent all day preparing. It is really filling so we ended up having lots leftover. No problem - I put some of it in the freezer for later, when I was ready I added some water and microwaved it and it was just as delicious as day one.

I love this stoup! I used a freshly baked roasted garlic bread and used less garlic as listed in the ingredients.

I also sprinkled parmesean cheese on the top and ate freshly baked rosemary/olive oil bread with it.

This is a real "stick to your ribs" winter day soup.

The flavor is okay, but the texture is muchy and almost slimey. I won't make it again - I don't even know what to do with the pot on the stove now!
