My mom and I are crazy about this pasta dish! We omitted the cream and the cheese and used fresh baby spinach instead of sage (because that's what we had on hand. So yummy! If you think you don't like whole wheat pasta, try this recipe and you'll be surprised! Healthful comfort food.

Really anyone who posted "bland" is obviously a processed food junkie! Fantastic flavors! I will make this again & again! I did add a tiny bit of sugar in the raw. I do not think that made much of a difference. Happy cooking!

Good for Halloween Parties! I agree with the other reviews
- thanks for your tips! I added two packets of stevia, grilled chicken slices, and more seasonings and my party guests (as young as 2 and as old as 70 all loved it!
I doubled the batch and added some olive oil during the tossing because it stuck together. I'm going to add green peas for the leftovers for dinner!

Easy and nice for a change. But toooo much garlic. Did need more cinnamon and a pinch of sugar/splenda. But next time will spoon OVER the pasta, instead of tossing in. Great last minute dish out of the pantry, other than the fresh sage. Didn't have that, so threw in a pinch of sage from the good old spice rack. Would make a nice side dish in the fall and around holidays.

I really enjoyed this recipe. I didnt think it was bland like a lot of other reviews said. However, I tend not to measure when I cook, and end up throwing in heavy amounts of things like garlic, salt, hot sauce and cheese. One complaint about this meal was that it was really messy to make. I dont feel like I am a messy cook, but this seemed to take up a lot of dishes. Also, Rachael kept talking about how it was a "penny wise" meal and money smart but I felt like because it had a lot of ingredients it wasnt a great choice if you are trying to cook cheap. But overall, really yummy and perfect for a cozy night in!

I used elbow macaroni instead of penne because that's what I had on hand. My husband and I thought this dish definitely needed some extra salt to enhance the flavor. Once we sprinkled on some salt, though, it was quite tasty and we liked the pumpkin flavor. It was not as good the next day as leftovers, though. I'd probably make this again, but it's not going to be something I make over and over.

I have a picky picky 4 year-old. I usually can't get her to eat anything but the bread I put on the table alongside the pasta. I made this recipe as written, but had to simmer a bit more than the 6 minutes to thicken the sauce. Imagine my surprise when I put this in front of her to eat and a couple minutes later there was a piece of bread left in the middle of an empty bowl. So healthy and yummy! (But don't tell her the healthy part!

I liked the recipe, but only after I added some sugar. The sweetness made it holiday party friendly. The kids loved it.
