This was my first time cooking with shellfish. I am NOT a fantastic cook--but this recipe made me one! I used clams instead of mussels because they were on sale, but I'll definitely try it again (and again, and again...probably with a variety of different types of shellfish! You can NOT lose by trying this recipe!

I've made this recipe half a dozen times, especially since returning from a trip to Spain. It's lighter than the paellas I had there, but we love it. I haven't really changed a thing or tweaked it in any way.

Overall a very tasty dish that was straight forward to make. Rather than buying chorizo & removing it from the casing, I bought non-cased chorizo and it allowed the spicy flavor to mix throughout the dish. The only confusing part was the time listed where it said "After 13 minutes add shell fish to rice pan"--is this 13 minutes after you started the rice or 13 minutes after the previous step? We guessed the former and it turned out fine.

The rice is nice, so is the spice. The whole dish turns out great.

I followed the recipe to the letter. The result was extremely disappointing. Nothing close to real paella (I have a Spanish friend who cooks paella frequently so I know what I am talking about.

For my first Paella I was so surprized at how easy it was to make and how everyone loved it!

you can skip all the seafood, and it still has TONS of meat. and, very forgiving for substitutions too!
