My family is Filipino-Spanish, and they are all complete paella snobs. It must be "right", or you risk shaming the family! I prepared this recipe for a recent party and it was a HUGE hit. Everybody was asking for the recipe, and it was the only dish at the end of the night where there were no leftovers. (That's saying alot if you've ever seen the amount of food eaten and served at a Filipino party! This is definitely a do-over dish. And over, and over, and over...

My Dad was from Spain and my mother made the best paella - no recipe of course, This was great. Used shrimp, clams, mussels and scallops for the seafood. Also, used more saffrom.

its very goood if your cut on time especially since it takes less than most other recipes call for. although! it did take me more than 30 minutes. use the amount of mussels called for. they're not too expensive and you can get approx. 18 mussels in 1 pound (i paid $3.99 a pound
also, my chorizo needed more cooking than 3 minutes so i would suggest to cook that along with the chicken and THEN add the vegetables. overall it was scrum-didly-umptious!

Simple and easy instructions and a wnderfully tasting and colorful dish that presents very well either hot or room temp. The Chorizo cooked all apart, but gave the chicken a wonderful tomato color. Added a touch of cilantro for another unique flavor that complimented the lemon zest.

Easy prep; but Rachel doesn't specify which rice to use - other than "yellow". I used Mah...ma saffron rice and it was terrible! Next time, I think I'll try the more traditional way.

I made this last night, only thing I omitted were the mussels, I have a hard time finding fresh ones in my area. The recipe worked almost exactly as shown, with the difference that I cooked the chicken and chorizo for a good bit longer than it said-only about 6 mins seemed too short for that sort of dish.

Both parts of the dish went together great and even my picky bf loved this!

This was such a great hit at my dinner party! The paella was simple to make and had a wonderful mix of flavors running through it. I will definitely be making it again!

Easy recipe - I substituted clams for mussels (I had it that way in Spain A good spanish sausage or an andouille would have be better than chorizo. It took WAY more than 30 minutes, BTW.

I split the recipe before adding seafood, 1/3 without, for allergic folks. It was a big hit at the mediterranean gathering dominated by greek food. And even bigger hit w/ allergic guest that had never tried Paella.

    Worth trying again!

My family really thought it was good to the palet. The one caution is you must take your time in preparing this meal and you may want to add the shellfish with the rice a bit sooner than 13 minutes. This not an easy dish, I would say beyond medium.
