People! The majority of you are rating your own recipes, or your own spin on this recipe. Please, your rating should be on the recipe given as written. This recipe for picadillo is bland. It needs lots of things added to even give it any flavor as we can all see by how almost no one who gave it 4 or 5 stars rated it as written. I'd prefer to find a better recipe than to doctor this one.

I can say that the recipe is almost spot on! To add some zest and taste to it try shopping at your local grocer for a spice pack called Sazon.Add half a packet when browning meat! Also another very good idea is to add more protein by adding some chopped hard boiled eggs I usually only use one.this recipe takes me about 20 mins to prepare and is always fantastic!

Very easy to make but looks like it took a long time. I have made this many times using this recipe. Sometimes I add golden raisins which is another variation on Picadillo.

I use ground turkey so that it is a dish we can eat more often.

I did everything in order, exactly as the recipe called and this was so bland.... Then I added cumin, hot sauce, and that didn't help much. I was going to add cilantro but realized I didn't have any. Any ideas on how to make this taste better?

The only thing I did differently was add 2 cloves of freshly chopped garlic. I add a little green pepper and onion to a can of black beans, make some white rice and buy a bag of plantains and we're good to go!

This was delicious! I don't like green peppers so I substituted diced red potatoes (the Mexican restaurant up the street puts potatoes in their Picadilloand added about a quarter cup of green chili. I only had garlic stuffed olives so I used those. I didn't have crushed red pepper flakes so I used a couple of dashes of Cholula. I also added a tablespoon or so of Italian seasoning. Great with red beans and rice!

so I added one 1.12 oz packet of McCormick Fajitas seasoning and it was great!(The seasoning is already very salty so you can skip the Kosher salt.

Way too bland. Look at the recipe, you will have bland beef with hint of tomato at the end. I had to add way too many items on my own for me to say this was a good recipe.
