I thought it was very tasty and kid friendly. Not too spicy at all. However, the pasta to sauce ratio is off, not sure if it is a typo. Either cut the pasta in half or double your sauce. It was way too many noodles for the sauce. I figured this out as I was adding the pasta to the sauce and stopped. But will be modifying next time and I'm sure it will be great, because the sauce was very tasty. Thanks, Rachel!

not really kid friendly unless like she said you grew up with spicy foods like she did. Since the 2 reviews said it was very bland I decided to change it up a bit. I used a lot of the spices through out the cooking process. The beginning of the rue I added them, then at the end of the rue added them, then when I mixed it all together I added them again. It definately wasn't bland then, hubby doesn't like spicy which it was. I had to add sun dried tomatoes instead of pimentos which would have made it more spicy. That sweetened it up a little bit with a very mild kick. Also don't make a whole pound of pasta which I did it was huge it was for more than a family of 4. So do a little maybe a 1/4 or 1/2 of the recipe to try it out.

I thought it tasted pretty good. The pimentos were a nice twist and I liked what Rachel said during the show about opening up your kid's tastes. This seemed like a low impact change for my two kids ages 5.5 and almost 3. Both of course LOVE regular boxed mac/cheese and this is the first time I've ever made it from scratch. I gave it only a good rating because my almost 3 year old took a few bites and wouldn't finish it. My son said it tasted OK but asked how many bites he had to eat. Overall maybe a good idea but not for me. I won't be saving this recipe and now have 4 more servings in the freezer for another attempted taste opener.

I love Rachael Ray recipes and this one was very disappointing. I almost quadrupled the seasonings and it was still very bland. It had no flavor. Definitely would not recommend it. Find a good homestyle mac n cheese recipe you love and add the pimiento peppers to it!
