Just finished dinner and wanted to say that this was very quick and easy and absolutely divine! That said, I really couldn't taste the apples and may add another next time. Thanks to Rachael!!

This was a quick and easy recipe (extremely, but came out a bit saucy. Way too much liquid in this! It actually MUST be cooked in a dutch oven, but if you follow the recipe to a T, i found it to be more of a stew than a solid dish. GREAT flavors though! Next time, I'll cut the liquid in half.

I followed the recipe to the minute. The flavors were just OK, but the meat was very dry (we all 6 agreed and WAY TOO MANY onions. I have 4 kids ages 2.5-13 and this is definitely a recipe for a more sophisticated taste pallet than tweens, much less toddlers. I would seer the pork then add it earlier into the onion/apple mixture (maybe 2 onions and 3 apples. The rice was very boring...you could tweek this recipe and it would all be much better. This also takes much more than 30 minutes...unfortunately, I am not a Food Network Star and do not have a household of help chopping!

I made this and it got RAVE reviews (my husband said "restaurant quality". I could not find Calvados so I subbed (and increased the quantity 1/2 c brandy and 1/2 c apple cider. Served with cranberry rice pilaf and it was a DELICIOUS MEAL.

Wow - what a disappointment! I expected to really like this based on ingredients and reviews. Didn't hate it, but won't make it again. It was wrong in so many ways. Let's start with preparation: onions browned almost immediately even though I had them on the lowest heat (gas range had to add apple juice to keep them from burning.
The flavor was bland at best, and a little on the salty side, even though I salted very sparingly. No flavor from the apple brandy (Calvados was $35/fifth so I got some apple brandy for $24/fifth - not exactly cheap. No flavor from the apples, onions were slightly sweet, but not great. Pork - bland as I said & salty.
I'm a really good cook and can usually spot a bad recipe, but this took me totally by surprise. I have a lovely recipe for pork tenderloin with pears from Epicurious - I'll return to that recipe for a nice fall pork tenderloin dish.

This was a WINNER at our house. We had guests for dinner on Friday, and I made this meal. My husband told me over and over on Friday night how much he loved it and he was still telling me on Sunday how much he loved it. YAY - thanks Rachael.

Wow, was this awesome. I used apple juice in place of the calvados, since I didn't have any. Very tasty, with my family begging me to make it again. In fact, we're having it tonight! The rice is awesome, too.

This was a great, quickie meal! I added a tiny bit of flour to the chicken stock for a thicker gravy.
