Good soup. I like adding some onions, garlic and red pepper to mine.

This is a quick and easy recipe when you need something right now and without a lot of fancy ingredients. I added some tomato paste to deepen the tomato flavor. Because it is such a simple recipe, quality of tomatoes and ingredients is key. A great recipe to keep on hand to go along with a last minute grilled cheese sandwich!

Decent, but I didn't love it. I even added an onion and 2 cloves of garlic. Seemed like it was missing a richness, or more depth of flavor.

OK, I made this recipe exactly as it was written. The soup was pretty good but was very basic. Maybe next time I'll use a better quality can of tomatoes? That might make a difference. I just used what I had on hand.
I did like that this is a more all-natural soup than canned.
The little toasts were outstanding and really made the dish. I do plan on making this again, though. It was stupid simple and pretty good.

I was looking for a quick easy soup for a cool fall day and this fit the bill. completely easy to make and really good, for what it is. if you are looking for a restaurant quality tomato bisque, this isn't it, but if you want a quick, easy and delicious tomato soup, you can't go wrong.
(note: i added a few grinds of Trader Joes Everyday Seasoning and about 1/4 tsp of their 21 Season Salute

This soup took less than a minute of work on my part. I used vegetable broth (my store did not have stock and instead of crushed tomatoes I used tomato puree since I do not have an immersion blender. I also used half and half instead of heavy cream. Once everything was in the pot, I let it simmer for about 20 minutes. I served it with grilled cheese sandwiches and it was perfect! Thank you Rachael for a great rainy day meal that is easy, tastes great, and is cheap to make!!

My kids love tomato soup. The icky canned stuff that has MSG in it. I just can't bring myself to make it for them anymore, so I began my search for a basic tomato soup recipe that they would eat. They don't want pureed carrots or onions in it and don't want to expand their taste bud horizons with chunks and new flavors. THIS soup is the perfect 'kid friendly' answer - for my kids. Some kids will experiment, but mine just won't with some things. Thanks for a great and easy tomato soup.

This soup is excellent!!!! I think you need to use San Marzano they have more flavor than a regular tomato.Next time I am going to try to use skim milk and add tomato paste just to try to cut back on calories....I'll let you know
